We have an exciting opportunity for a remote Workers' Compensation Attorney. You will be handling a caseload of workers’ compensation matters, conduct depositions, and represent Liberty Mutual and its policyholders at WC hearings in the state of Rhode Island. You will also interact with Liberty Mutual’s Workers’ Compensation claims organization.    This is a great opportunity to manage your own caseload of RI workers compensation cases – and make in person appearances before the Workers' Compensation Commission while working for a major insurance company with a great working environment, annual performance bonuses, and a great benefits package.   Responsibilities: - Use Litigation Protocols to develop and revise appropriate legal strategy for discovery, investigation, handling and trial/hearing of cases or matters - Responsible for appearances before the Workers Compensation Board, conducting depositions, drafting and filing summations, appeals and rebuttals. - Research the law applicable to cases or matters; drafts legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs and opinions as required.  If requested, conduct settlement negotiations. - Advise, communicate and confer with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients, rendering clear, unambiguous legal opinions and advice. Personally meet with and maintain good relations and communications with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients as required.  - Remain current with developments in the law; understand medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering or similar issues and defenses involved with cases or matters. - Prepare and conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims or other departments as required. - Understand and creatively use technology; apply technology to the process of law to improve quality and reduce cost. - Interface with Home Office Legal department.

Training is a critical component to your success and that success starts with reliable attendance. Attendance and active engagement during training is mandatory - Manages, investigates and resolves assigned Property Contents claims under limited supervision. - Compiles and values inventory of damaged/lost contents associated with property claims. - Provides policyholders with quality customer service. - May assist Claims Representatives with in-person inspection/policyholder contact where necessary. - Responsible for claims handling personal property losses to include large loss. - Works in concert with large loss adjuster for scheduling, inventorying, adjustment and relocation assistance. - Performs on-site inventory inspection and specific detail capture (50% minimum on-site) to provide to policyholder for pricing. - Develops expert list/websites for various product categories. Utilizes internet VIA/Insurer's World/vendors for pricing and/or validation. Documents the file accordingly. - Provides quality customer service. Provides insured with policy information to include coverage, limitations, replacement or ACV options. - Works with and may coordinate a number of vendor services such as contractors, emergency repair, cleaning services and various replacement services. - May assist on files handled by Claims Reps with in-person inspection/policyholder contact when needed. - Attends product seminars/shows to build personal property expertise. - May be called upon for catastrophe duty

Responsibilities   - Hire, supervise, monitor, control, assign, train, and evaluate the work of the underwriting staff - Reviews, rates and underwrites targeted new business and renewal accounts at the direction of the Underwriting Manager - Reviews and negotiates policy terms and conditions with assistance from the Underwriting Manager - Establishes and maintains relationships with the brokerage community to facilitate marketing of LIU products and services - Makes marketing calls to brokers and prospective insureds, generally with the assistance of Underwriting Manager - Communicates with other product line underwriters and claims analysts in order to provide comprehensive customer service - Perform related duties as requested to include, report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of the product line unit - Has experience in underwriting mid to large law firms - Requires in person client meetings - Maintains existing broker relationships in both wholesale and retail distributiion channels for this product line
