Are you passionate about the power of data and how technology can unlock the analytical powers to help the enterprise achieve its strategic goals?  The Global People, Purpose & Brand Technology organization is looking to hire a Solutions Engineer, Data.  In this role, you will be part of a fast-paced team where you will help influence the ongoing evolution of our data strategies and roadmap, delivering key data solutions in alignment with business goals to drive desired outcomes.

This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite) and we are considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH and Boston.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Data Office, and Architecture teams to influence our united data strategy, enhance user experiences, and deliver impactful solutions that drive the outcomes we need to deliver on our 2030 vision.

The primary focus will be supporting the talent analytics needs for People, Purpose and Brand and the Enterprise. You will lead the development and implementation of technology strategies and roadmaps by engineering clear, comprehensive, and integrated data solutions that support both business plans and long-term objectives.   You will serve as a trusted consultant on complex data architecture and modeling and will drive improvements in data quality, reliability, and efficiency.  Additionally, you will provide leadership by assessing team velocity and identifying continuous improvement opportunities to boost product and team performance. Through driving meaningful change, you will advance Global People, Purpose, and Brand Technology and business initiatives, tackle complex challenges, accelerate our AI journey, and empower engineering and business teams to unlock new capabilities that enable business agility and flexible, responsive solutions.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the implementation of technology by engineering clear, comprehensive and integrated data solutions which support business plans and long-term strategies in alignment with our North Star Architecture.
  • Collaborate with the Data Office, Digital Employee Experience, Lakehouse Engineering, and Application Development teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure compatibility issues, ensuring alignment with systems architecture and customer expectations.
  • Actively participate in incident management, providing expert guidance and consultative recommendations to facilitate effective resolutions.
  • Drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions impacting both profitability and operational performance.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive technology strategies and roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Create and maintain clear conceptual and logical architecture diagrams to support solution design and communication.
  • Support Agile squads in adopting new technical solutions while leading the evaluation of technical alternatives and spearheading the development and prototyping of innovative tools and technologies.
  • Participate actively in Data Architecture procedures and policy management to ensure governance and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience; a technical master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proficient with cloud data tools and platforms, with extensive knowledge of infrastructure, cloud-based platforms, and development tools.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with Python and core AWS services—including, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch, Lambda, API Gateway, and IAM—along with working knowledge of Azure cloud platforms for authentication.
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning and AI technologies, particularly their application to data.
  • Up-to-date awareness of current data trends and industry developments.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard and company-specific data tools such as Databricks, DBT, etc.
  • Proven track record managing complex technical projects with attention to detail and strategic vision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentorship and fostering the technical growth of others.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, and emerging technologies, including new architectural concepts and principles.

Highly competitive applicants will have the following:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data warehousing, with Snowflake experience preferred, combined with a passion for innovation. Snowflake certifications are a plus.
  • Expertise in Snowflake, including knowledge of upcoming features and opportunities for leveraging them.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
