Description

Our Talent Practices & Employee Rewards team is seeking a Director of Compensation to lead compensation advising for the Global Risk Solutions (GRS) business. This role serves as the primary compensation thought partner to senior HR leaders and business executives, providing strategic, data-driven guidance on complex and often novel compensation matters in a fast-paced environment.

 

This role plays a critical part in shaping and executing compensation strategies, with a particular focus on the development and rollout of our Career Framework and Job Architecture. The ideal candidate brings deep compensation expertise, strong business acumen, the ability to translate complex data into compelling stories that influence decision-making at the highest levels, and a breadth of management experience.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead compensation advising for the GRS business, serving as a trusted strategic partner to senior HR leaders and executive business leaders.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex compensation topics, including unique talent challenges, market competitiveness, internal equity, pay-for-performance, and emerging or non-traditional compensation strategies.
  • Anticipate business needs and proactively shape compensation solutions that align with both business strategy and enterprise philosophy.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Compensation Advisors, setting direction, prioritizing work, and ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple initiatives.
  • Play a critical leadership role in the design, development, and enterprise rollout of the Career Framework and Job Architecture.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and change leader, supporting education, adoption, and governance of Career Framework across the GRS organization.
  • Translate complex compensation and workforce data into clear, compelling narratives that support executive-level decision-making.
  • Elevate the use of analytics and insights to diagnose issues, evaluate options, and recommend solutions tied to business outcomes.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders with confidence, clarity, and executive presence.
  • Act as a senior advisor or project lead on large-scale, high-impact compensation initiatives, including work with external consultants as needed.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in compensation principles, programs, and market practices, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity.
  • Demonstrated success leading compensation strategy for large, matrixed organizations or complex business units.
  • Proven experience designing or implementing career frameworks, job architectures, or large-scale compensation transformations.
  • Strong people leadership experience, including coaching and developing compensation professionals.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with advanced ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Highly effective communicator with strong executive presence and the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Advanced project leadership skills, including prioritization, risk management, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance enterprise consistency and business-specific needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities while maintaining quality and momentum.
  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience, including 7+ years of progressive compensation experience, with demonstrated leadership at a senior advisory level.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
