Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Liberty GTS Claims team in the Americas and work closely with the Americas Head of Claims.The successful candidate will manage transactional liability claims, with a primary focus on Representations & Warranties and Tax insurance policies. The role involves directing coverage investigations, establishing and maintaining adequate reserves, and leading efficient, strategic claim resolutions in an expeditious and economical manner.   

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage M&A insurance claims from point of notification through to claim disposition.
  • Conduct and direct comprehensive coverage investigations.
  • Within prescribed settlement authority, establish and regularly review appropriate indemnity and expense reserves; make recommendations to set adequate reserves for claims outside of authority level.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive written reports  and communicate specific claim trends and policy issues to management and underwriting.
  • Adhere to the line of business litigation guidelines, including budget, bill review, and payment. 
  • Drive pro-active  the case resolution process, including leading negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations within settlement authority.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, Insureds, brokers, coverage counsel, experts, and co-insurers throughout the claims process.
  • Participate in the claims audits and support claims-related marketing services by engaging with brokers, risk managers and reinsurers. 

 

Experience 

The successful candidate will have a legal background in insurance and/or transactional law, with experience handling Reps & Warranties claims in private practice or in-house. The role requires advanced knowledge of claims handling principles, including coverage analysis and product line expertise. Demonstrated superior verbal and written communications skills. Advanced analytical, decision making, and negotiation skills. 

Qualifications

 

  • JD Preferred and Bachelors' and/or advanced degree 
  • 10 years of overall claims experience with 3-5 years of Reps and Warranty experience
  • Highly advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices and techniques, to include but not limited to coverage issues, and product line knowledge 
  • Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions 
  • Demonstrated superior verbal and written communications skills 
  • Highest level of advanced analytical, decision making and negotiation skills
