The Position:

This is a newly created, high-impact Vice President role supporting Liberty Mutual Investments’ multi-year initiative to design and scale a best-in-class derivatives operating model. We are specifically seeking candidates with deep derivatives expertise from either a derivatives technology/vendor environment, or an asset management platform with a strong derivatives focus.

The role centers on the most complex areas of post-trade derivatives operations — collateral management and derivative valuation — with accountability for strong controls, automation, and seamless integration with SimCorp Dimension to support financial reporting, month-end close, and audit requirements.

The Vice President will lead the design and governance of collateral management and valuation workflows, own key reconciliations and reporting, and act as a senior bridge across trading, risk, accounting, technology, custodians, clearinghouses, and external vendors. This role combines strategic ownership with hands-on leadership in a growing derivatives environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter lead for collateral management and derivative valuation across cleared and bilateral markets.
  • Own VM/IM workflows, collateral optimization, margin dispute resolution, and valuation governance and reconciliations.
  • Partner with trade capture and confirmation teams to support onboarding, exception management, and upstream data quality.
  • Manage integration of derivatives operational data into Both the Investment and Accounting books of record, ensuring accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting.
  • Support month-end close, hedge accounting assessment, and audit requests in partnership with Accounting and Finance.
  • Support the onboarding of new derivative instruments and trading strategies, partnering with trading, risk, technology, and accounting to ensure products are operationally sound, properly valued, collateralized, and accurately reflected in downstream reporting and controls.
  • Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and controls, drive automation and continuous improvement.
  • Work with technology teams and external vendors on system integrations and platform enhancements.
  • Maintain relationships with custodians, clearing houses, CCPs, and derivatives service providers.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in derivatives operations, derivatives technology, or derivatives servicing within an asset manager, hedge fund, investment bank, or vendor.
  • Deep expertise in collateral management and/or derivative valuation (VM/IM, CSA mechanics, pricing governance, reconciliations).
  • Strong understanding of derivative accounting concepts and their impact on P&L and balance sheet reporting.
  • Experience integrating derivatives operations with accounting systems.
  • Solid knowledge of the end-to-end derivatives post-trade lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to scale controls, governance, and automation in complex environments.
  • Demonstrates strong AI literacy and uses AI-enabled tools to enhance speed, accuracy, and insight generation while maintaining sound judgment and compliance with governance standards

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with a Derivatives Technology Vendor (i.e. Nasdaq Calypso, Murex, Ion Markets), or similar platforms.
  • Exposure to CCPs and bilateral margin regimes.
  • Experience leading or supporting derivatives platform migrations, ensuring data integrity, operational readiness, and control stability during conversion.

Why this role matters

  • You will help build the operational foundation that enables LMI to safely and efficiently expand its use of derivatives, ensuring strong collateral and valuation controls while connecting operations, technology, and accounting.
