Product Owner – External Quoting & Integrations Platform

Are you passionate about building innovative solutions that transform how insurance products are delivered? As Product Owner for our External Quoting & Integrations Platform, you’ll drive the strategy of an API-first, extensible solution that powers end-to-end quoting workflows for Comparion and Liberty Mutual, enabling seamless access to external carrier partner products.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and champion the product vision, aligning strategy with organizational priorities.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, crafting clear user stories and acceptance criteria that empower engineering teams to deliver real business value.
  • Translate customer needs and business goals into actionable work, focusing your squad on high-impact outcomes.
  • Collaborate daily with engineers, QA, and business experts to clarify requirements, remove obstacles, and keep delivery on track.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement across business, technology, and executive leadership—setting clear expectations for timelines, capabilities, and trade-offs.
  • Drive planning activities, participate in agile ceremonies, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Establish and monitor product KPIs and health metrics, proactively assessing impacts across the ecosystem.
  • Analyze feasibility, cost of delay, and economic trade-offs to support smart prioritization and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, negotiating aligned priorities with internal and external teams.

What You Bring:

  • Experience with Personal Lines Insurance, comparative raters, and modernizing legacy applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to break down complexity for diverse audiences.
  • Comfort operating independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Proven track record owning a product backlog and driving delivery with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including executive and technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and IT project management.
  • Leadership, problem-solving, and a passion for innovation.
  • Experience in the insurance industry and knowledge of relevant products/portfolios preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.) and a minimum of 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
  • Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders; strong leadership skills.
  • Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
  • Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to lead a team to push the solutions and progress.
  • Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
