This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite) and we are considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX, Indianapolis, IN.

 

Job Introduction:

 

The USRM Distribution Tech team is looking to add a dynamic Solutions Architect to their team. The candidate will be responsible for establishing and providing leadership to the technology strategy and technology roadmaps for the Insurance Professional Sales Experience portfolio.

 

In this role, you will work closely with peer Solutions Architects, Solutions Engineers, and engineering teams to align engineering choices with enterprise standards and well-architected practices. You will maintain enterprise methodologies and techniques, including standards and guidelines for enterprise-wide use in technical management and systems of process development. You will develop specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. You will provide technical oversight and architecture/engineering solutions to large, strategic, complex system and application development projects at the domain or product level. You will be recognized as a thought leader who influences decisions made by senior leadership and advances the craft of architecture within our organization.


About the job:

  • Contributes to the development of the technology strategy and technology roadmaps that enable the business, usually for a specific business capability domain.
  • Provides consultation and collaborates with Engineering Managers, business partners and peer groups regarding long and short-range product features. Provides oversight at the business capability domain level influencing decision-making and prioritizing the business and architecture backlog for the aligned development squads.
  • Educates and drives adoption of well-architected practices in order to promote Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost Optimization into cultural norms.
  • Contributes to design and development of architecture (integrated process, methodology, framework, software/applications, data, information, and technology) scalable solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards.
  • Influences and partners with the Product Owners and engineering teams to align the technical design and strategy with the product roadmap.
  • Connects Solution Engineering with Technology and Portfolio Architecture work to ensure sound roadmaps which deliver business value.
  • Responsible for prototyping complex, cross platform business solutions to validate newer technologies. Reviews and ensures major architectural designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible and cost-effective solutions. Participates with application and infrastructure design architects to provide guidance for development and releases.
  • Maintains collaborative and strategic partnerships between customers, vendors, business partners, and technology teams.
  • Share expertise ensuring that teams are continuously improving and learning together to meet current and future engineering and architecture needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of overall Tech experience with 2+ years in solution engineering, system design, and data management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technical architecture methodologies and emerging architectural concepts and principles.
  • Proficient in software engineering languages, tools, and emerging technologies, with preference for experience across legacy, current, and new technologies.
  • Strong hands-on design and development experience with:
    • Java, Spring Boot, Typescript, AWS (EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway),  Apigee, Docker, Event Streaming, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity), Single Page Applications (Angular / React), Datadog/Splunk for observability.
  • Proven success designing and delivering large-scale, cloud-native, API-first systems on AWS, leveraging modern DevSecOps, IaC, CI/CD, containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes/EKS), and end-to-end observability and security practices.
  • Experience with data migration strategies and a strong understanding of layered solution designs and security concepts.
  • In-depth understanding of business operations, objectives, global technology trends, and the financial services industry.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • An ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and present complex ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
