Job Summary

 

Major Accounts Property Underwriting is growing our Large Property team and looking for an experienced Executive Property Underwriter to own new and renewal business across the Central Region (15 states, Minnesota to Texas). This is a production-focused role underwriting large property accounts (single-carrier

and quota-share) with total insured values (TIV) of $300M+. You’ll operate with meaningful underwriting authority, apply data-driven judgment, and partner with

senior brokers and internal teams to write profitable, technically sound business.

 

Typical starting salary is $128,501-$208,000

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Manage a targeted portfolio of brokers, agents, and clients across the Central Region
  • Underwrite and bind large property accounts (TIV $300M+) single-carrier and quota-share
  • Analyze exposures, set pricing, and make acceptance decisions within underwriting authority
  • Communicate complex coverage and technical differences clearly to brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Use portfolio analysis and data-driven insights to influence business strategy and marketing plans
  • Build and grow relationships with senior/market-leading brokers to drive new business opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, and regional/national underwriting leadership
  • Stay current on legal, regulatory, and case law developments that impact underwriting practice; share knowledge internally and externally
  • Mentor, coach, and develop underwriters and underwriting partners; contribute to process improvement projects

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
  • A minimum of 7 years expected, typically 10 years or more, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related business experience
  • CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred
  • Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information in understandable written and/or oral directives to other persons in the organization for underwriting or training purposes
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must demonstrate comprehension of most complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues
  • Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business
