This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite) and we are considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH and Boston, MA.

 

Job Introduction:  

 

Liberty Mutual’s Global Cybersecurity organization is looking for a Scrum Master II candidate to join our Security Program Management & Business Operations team.  You will play a critical role in shaping the way teams deliver solutions to protect Liberty Mutual. The Scrum Master is a change agent that coaches and collaborates with people and teams to help them improve and deliver their best work. In this position, the qualified candidate will operate as a team Scrum Master for multiple teams within the Threat Defense & Response domain within GCS’s Scaled Agile environment. Working together, you will help the organization on their path towards agile maturity and business agility.

 

In this role, the Scrum Master will enable the teams’ effectiveness of delivery and cultivate an environment that supports agility and drive action to remove cybersecurity risk from our environment. The Scrum Master coaches, mentors and teaches team members, proactively seeking to eliminate or minimize impact of barriers, and address challenges to delivery. Your contributions in this role will be an important element of our service delivery practice, helping realize our vision to continuously improve the way we work.

 

About the job:

  • You will support Threat Defense & Response teams, supporting the teams in their discovery, prioritization and remediation of vulnerabilities and other security risks.
  • Facilitate stand-up meetings, planning sessions, and retrospectives to ensure full team engagement with a focus on growing the capabilities by all team members.  Manage interdependencies between teams.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and People Leaders to support short and long-term planning, and assist in keeping the work backlog healthy and prepared for execution. 
  • Shield the teams from interference to enable optimal functionality and productivity.
  • Anticipate and address impediments to team delivery.
  • Collaborate with teams to discover their needs; plan and deliver instruction and coaching on growth mindset and maturing current Agile adoption while ensuring alignment with the organizational strategy.
  • Champion continuous improvement activities to increase productivity; coach squads to conduct continuous improvement
  • Anticipate and address impediments to team and help manage interdependencies between teams.
  • Provide guidance and insight to various organizational positions (directors, managers, product owners, and team members)
  • Use data, observation and analytical skills to proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement in team health and delivery, develop proposed solutions, and share knowledge and best practices across teams.
  • Focus on increasing the skill and understanding of delivery practices and Liberty values across all interactions.
  • Observe & provide consistent, impactful feedback for team development.
  • Embrace the concept of continuous learning in your own journey and instill the same in the teams you coach.
  • Actively seek coaching and mentoring from more experienced SMs and coaches.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc
  • Minimum 5+ years of Scrum Master experience.
  • Experience fostering agile maturity within teams, including skillfully navigating the complexities and dynamics that often arise during transformation and either exposure to vulnerability management or a working knowledge of cybersecurity risk and/or operations.

  • Solid knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices and Agile project management concepts, practices, and techniques.

  • Demonstrates the ability to thoughtfully adapt Agile principles to fit the unique needs of each team and project, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and business objectives.

  • Display strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills.

    Advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills. 

  • Agile and traditional project management certifications are preferred.

  • Experience working in a scaled agile framework preferred.      

  • olid project and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
