The Position:

LMI’s Insurance Investment Solutions team, part of the Global Strategy & Capital Allocation (GSCA) business unit, is seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial Analyst. The Insurance Investment Solutions team sits at the fusion of insurance & investment strategy -navigating regulatory, rating agency, and insurance industry frameworks, to guide the design of investment strategies, both existing and emerging.

Our broader team, GSCA, is the nerve center of LMI, responsible for developing tools and insights for designing business & investment strategy, deconstructing the macro/market narrative, informing top-down house views, and setting the asset allocation for the General Account (GA). GSCA functions as the Office of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), influencing all aspects of the portfolio management process and ensuring that LMI delivers for its Liberty partners.  

Responsibilities:

 

Insurance Constraints

  • Assist in monitoring portfolio positioning, understanding constraints, and assisting in designing appropriate investment strategies
  • Contribute to research initiatives and build/enhance quantitative models aimed at monitoring portfolio objectives, strategy, and solutioning

Industry Surveillance

  • Monitor news and industry sources for events and trends related to investing for insurance companies and prepare summaries of key events for LMI
  • Provide in-depth coverage of the investment activities of a set of peer insurers including maintaining data and preparing briefings on quarterly actions for senior management

AI, Automation and Tool-Building:

  • Build and maintain dynamic tools leveraging large language models (LLMs), APIs, and data infrastructure to drive automation and analytical efficiency.
  • Use AI-driven tools to generate forward-looking insights, scenario simulations, and enhanced decision support for portfolio strategy.
  • Provide additional analytical capacity for GSCA initiatives, new projects and responses to changes in the insurance and regulatory environment as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience (or advanced degree) in investments, insurance, banking, consulting or a similar environment
    • Experience in asset management in the context of insurance companies preferable
    • Experience with the business of insurance a plus
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail
  • Passion for capital markets, asset management, and understanding of traditional and alternative asset classes
  • Outstanding business acumen with organizational and multi-tasking skills to oversee production of a high volume of quality work within tight timeframes, leading and participating in multiple simultaneous projects
  • Desire and professionalism necessary to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies including executive and senior management (across the insurance business, portfolio managers, and consultants)
  • Technical proficiency in LLMs (e.g. ChatGPT), Python, Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge of data architectures (e.g. Snowflake).
  • Familiarity or experience with Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, Power BI, VBA and other financial and analytical software tools a plus
  • Must be a self-starter with ambition and intellectual curiosity, as well as exceptional problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and research capabilities
  • Superior communication and listening skills and the ability to communicate complex issues in an understandable manner to a broad range of partners
  • Demonstrated capability to help drive projects to successful completion through cross-functional team collaboration

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
