Description

This position is primarily remote. Candidates who live within 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Indianapolis, IN; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX will follow a hybrid schedule, coming into the office two days per week.

 

This position is a key strategic role within our Staff Legal organization. This position is responsible for leading analytics-driven initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of legal defense for policyholders. By combining deep analytical expertise with strong project management capabilities, the incumbent will drive business process improvements, support data-driven decision-making, and ensure successful execution of critical legal projects.

 

We are seeking a litigation-savvy analytics individual who can translate legal expertise into data strategy and results. The position will assist the Corporate Legal Analytics team, but more importantly, the position will require that you direct what data to compile, how to model it, and how to use insights to Staff Legal’s advantage across the litigation lifecycle.

 

You will act as a liaison for the Head of Legal Tactics, Analytics, and Methods when going deep into data and modeling and using Artificial Intelligence, ensuring our work stays tightly aligned to legal strategy and business outcomes. The position will have a direct line to the Head of Legal Tactics, Analytics, and Methods, and a dotted reporting line to Corporate Legal Analytics.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Manages projects that are non-cyclical and varied, all involving litigation:

  • Lead end-to-end analytical workstreams for Staff Legal, from problem framing and data design to modeling, storytelling, and action planning.
  • Direct the compilation and utilization of legal data to our advantage: define the right questions, ensure the right data is captured, and guide model/analysis choices that align with litigation strategy.
  • Develop and apply advanced statistical techniques and predictive models including use of artificial intelligence; regularly utilize, update, and adapt modeling tools.
  • Build reusable analytics tools, dashboards, and frameworks that legal and business leaders rely on to understand results and identify opportunities.
  • Synthesize diverse internal and external data sources into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders, guiding decision-making and prioritization.

Qualifications

  • Litigation fluency: deep understanding of litigation processes, drivers, and metrics; ability to translate legal strategy into analytical requirements and vice versa.
  • Proven track record applying advanced analytics to real business problems and influencing decisions, use and design of artificial intelligence.
  • Degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or similar); master’s preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • 5–7+ years of applied non-academic analytics experience.
  • Deep knowledge of data sources, tools, and business drivers in a corporate environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (VBA, macros, scripts, formulas, visualization), PowerPoint, and statistical software (e.g., SAS, Emblem).
  • Strong planning, analytical, decision-making, and communication skills; comfortable leading discussions with senior stakeholders.
