Description

Assesses risks and makes recommendations for underwriting decisions for Environmental lines with a primary focus on Auto admitted products. Works with leadership and crossfunctional partners to develop underwriting skills, build critical internal and external relationships, and help evolve product offerings. This role will support current Environmental Auto admitted business and may have the opportunity to participate in early-stage work related to a potential future Workers’ Compensation product.

This is a hybrid position. You will be required to go into the office twice a week if you reside within 50 miles of Plano, TX office. Please note this policy is subject to change.

 

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite a portfolio of Environmental admitted auto business, managing relationships and communicating with brokers, agents and regional underwriters to grow and retain profitable accounts.
  • Evaluate exposures, coverage terms, limits and pricing for auto admitted policies in the Environmental lines of business; apply consistent underwriting judgment and adhere to appetite and guidelines.
  • Partner with UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Product Development, Compliance and other internal stakeholders to ensure coordinated risk selection, pricing and policy administration.
  • Contribute to product development and enhancement efforts, including documentation of underwriting guidelines, rating assumptions and referral criteria.
  • Use internal systems and available external data sources to analyze account and portfolio performance, identify trends and recommend actions for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate policy and exposure data in relevant underwriting systems and contribute to data quality initiatives.
  • Participate in projects and continuous improvement efforts (process, tools, workflow) to enhance efficiency and underwriting effectiveness.
  • May be asked to support exploratory work related to a potential Workers’ Compensation product (market research, underwriting framework input, pilot program participation).

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
  • At least 1 year, typically 1.5 or more years, of underwriting experience and/or other related business experience.
  • Actively pursuing professional insurance designations.
  • Ability to successfully develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within defined authority.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to successfully develop and maintain productive producer/customer relationships.
