Description

Provides legal support to attorneys and business professionals in various areas of the law, including corporate, insurance regulatory, compliance, international, employment, real estate, contracts and/or litigation. Depending on the practice area, assists attorneys in the management of lawsuits, corporate governance and transactions along with insurance regulatory assignments. Conducts legal and factual research in a variety of areas including marketing, billing, claims, sales, underwriting, reinsurance etc.,,At this level, there is greater responsibility to work independently and prioritize assignments.,


    Responsibilities

    Provides more advanced paralegal support to a dedicated legal practice group within Home Office Legal . The following responsibilities will vary based on practice group supported: Reviews and analyzes real estate leases, software licenses, and contracts. Conducts thorough legal research and prepares detailed memos summarizing the results in a clear and concise manner. Provides broad range of litigation support,to include the following: conducting data requests, implementing litigation holds, preparing responses to discovery requests, as well as witness and trial preparation. Reviews and responds to service of process including third party subpoenas, levies and garnishments. Assists with bankruptcy protection filings, and gathers claim and financial information to formulate proof of claim. Drafts and files corporate documents pertaining to Liberty Mutual Group entities. Handles general corporate matters assisting with corporate governance, due diligence, trademark and copyright issues, and contract review. Completes annual and quarterly regulatory filings (including Annual Statements, Insurance Holding Company Act filings and SEC filings) along with the coordination of licensing matters. Assists in merger acquisition activity, including compilation and organization of data for regulatory filings and coordination of due diligence with outside counsel. General knowledge of the structuring of various financial vehicles necessary to assist with ongoing transactions. Coordinate with outside counsel on the administration of all immigration matters requiring extensive interaction with SBU human resource representatives, maintenance of files and tracking due dates for renewals.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, in addition to 2-3 years of working experience as a Paralegal
      • Paralegal certificate strongly preferred
      • Ability to perform legal research, writing and analysis
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with attorneys, and clients
      • Requires strong organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail
      • Ability to exercise independent judgment and to effectively prioritize work
      • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and corporate and legal databases
