Description

The Enterprise Core Platform Modernization (ECPM) program within Global Digital Services (GDS) is searching for a Sr Director, Technology. ECPM is a multi-track, strategic investment that balances innovation and stability advancing towards our Liberty Mutual North Star architecture while sustaining today’s critical business operations. This leadership role demands an experienced leader capable of driving complex, cross-functional efforts through strategic thinking, risk-aware analysis, and data-driven decision making, all while leveraging deep insurance product expertise and extensive experience in program management and modernization trends.

 

About the role:

 

  • Strategic leader who directs the design, development, and delivery of complex modernization initiatives across multiple environments and business groups.
  • Translates the program’s vision into actionable plans, setting clear goals and maintaining rigorous oversight to ensure accountability, transparency, and alignment with enterprise architecture and business objectives.
  • Anticipates and manages technology evolution and associated risks, leveraging deep insurance product knowledge and program management expertise to balance innovation with operational stability.
  • Builds and coaches high-performing teams, manages staffing strategies, and fosters strong partnerships with business clients, vendors, and senior executives to promote trust and alignment across priorities.
  • Oversees multiple projects, ensuring scope, schedules, and resources are effectively managed, while driving continuous improvement and embedding industry best practices.
  • Monitors emerging trends and competitive landscapes, making strategic recommendations that advance the modernization strategy.
  • Ensures technical and product architectures support the business’s critical needs, enabling the program to translate vision into disciplined, data-driven execution that sustains current operations while advancing toward the North Star architecture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in technical or business discipline or related experience; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Generally a minimum of 15 years related experience with 5 years in leadership role desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies and their application to business opportunities.
  • In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of program management and agile methodologies and tools and IT standards and guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques.
  • Ability to promote a team environment consisting of several teams.
  • Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
