Job summary:
The USRM Distribution Technology organization is looking to hire an Manager, Software Engineering to lead Agile engineering teams in building the future state sales experience for Direct Response Center (DRC) agents, a UI called Olympus. Olympus is essential to the success of Liberty Mutual as the legacy sales experience it is replacing is over 20 years old and burdened with tech debt. Olympus will unlock numerous capabilities and greater speed-to-market as it is expanded to support all products across all DRC “queues” over the coming years.
As an Engineering Manager within the “I Buy / I Sell Insurance Professional” portfolio, you will be responsible for hiring, leading, and supporting engineers to work optimally to deliver on our business priorities. You will coach and evaluate performance, including the quality of work delivered by team members. Aided by effectively utilizing agile methodology and practices, you will create a motivating work environment for your team and ensure they are highly engaged and continuously growing as they efficiently deliver quality solutions.
You will leverage your knowledge of architecture and software engineering best practices to provide leadership, guidance and oversight for the design and implementation of the DRC sales experience with a tech stack comprised of React, Apollo GraphQL, and Java. You will become an expert of the tools, architecture, and non-functional requirements (e.g. security and scalability) for your aligned software products so that you can provide technical engineering guidance, especially with less experienced team members. You will manage the total cost of ownership and advocate for the appropriate management of technical debt.
You will also build strong relationships with an awesome cross-functional team of leaders to ensure the work of your team members is aligned with and appropriately supported by adjacent partners and stakeholders.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
