Description

This role is part of the Legal Audit & Billing Services (LABS) organization which is responsible for auditing outside counsel invoices and capturing spend information. In addition, the team validates outside counsel rates and appropriateness to ensure Liberty Mutual is billed properly.

 

You will supervise a team of approximately 10 employees that provide accounting and transactional payment support in a variety of claims systems for Liberty’s claims organizations. These employees also verify information pertaining to these claims and follow special processing instructions to facilitate the execution of legal invoice payments. In this role you will work closely with Legal Services’ vendors and Liberty’s internal claims organization.

 

Typical starting salary for this role is $95,801-120,500. Compensation for this role will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, overall experience, and skill level.

 

This position may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervises a number of related functions including invoice review, invoice payment and support.
  • Provides training and manages all aspects of performance; monitors operational metrics to identify coaching opportunities, develops staff and improves service and performance.
  • Ensures that the department/unit work is being completed in a timely and efficient manner through appropriate control, monitoring and review of workflow.
  • Develops new or improved department operating systems and procedures for management and participates in agile software development activities to review processes and provides feedback; makes recommendations to increase efficiency and implements recommendations as required.
  • Maintains technical proficiency in all processing systems; exercises approval authority in each system.
  • Performs all quality assurance tasks, including formal documentation of control procedures
  • Resolves problems relating to payment of legal invoices with policyholders, claims and law firms.
  • Conducts meetings to communicate new and existing company and department policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant and progressively more   responsible work   experience is required. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills in order to work with diverse groups of internal and external contacts.
  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of department's operations, systems, and company/department policies and procedures. 
  • Prior experience in a Legal Operations setting is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success using operational metrics to drive favorable business results;  Power BI and advanced Excel skills are strongly preferred.
  • History of developing and nurturing business relationships;  track record of fostering favorable outcomes with difficult stakeholders
