Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Catastrophe (CAT) Management team as a Senior CAT Analyst. The Senior Catastrophe Management Analyst will oversee the databases and applications used to asses and monitor all exposures including models to assess exposures and vulnerability to natural and man-made events. Will assist CAT Management in the development of risk management tools, modeling techniques, and processes needed to monitor and control exposures. Responsible for training application users and ensuring timely and accurate data capture. Serves as the technical expert and department resource for TAs and underwriters.

 

**This is a ranged positing. The level offered will be dependent upon candidate skills and experience at manager discretion.**

 

**This role may have in-office requirements dependent upon candidate location.**

 

Responsibilities:

  • Technical expert and primary contact for user support on World CAT Enterprise applications.
  • Provide one-on-one training on the World CAT Enterprise analysis application to ensure data is entered accurately and consistently across the global organization.
  • Develop processes for collecting and monitoring data on a monthly basis to ensure a high level of data integrity.
  • Applies expert knowledge to CAT Management and data modeling tools employed by LIU. Independently prepare complex analyses and presents findings to management.
  • Work with VP CAT Management to create standard reports to keep management informed of current exposure accumulations and forecast of future risk.
  • Develop ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Work with CAT Management and Entity Management to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the data collection, modeling and reporting.
  • Retains ownership and management of projects and intuitives directed by CAT management.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvements to processes, controls and technology systems related to CAT Management.
  • Develop and implement recommended improvements.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with GIS technology - ArcGIS, ArcMap or ArcPro.
  • Strong experience running modeling in SQL, SAS, or Python, minimum using pre-written queries. 
  • Experience using AIR.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Finance/General Business or Engineering or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 5-7 years of catastrophic modeling and management reporting experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with CAT management software employed by LIU.
  • Superb data mining skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SQL knowledge.
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance background preferred.
