Description

The Director of Data Solutions position offers an exciting and unique opportunity to serve as a hands on thought leader in developing advanced, scalable data solutions for US Retail Market's (USRM) Small Commercial Risk Analytics teams and other areas. Operating under broad managerial direction, this role requires navigating complex assignments with significant technical depth and coordination. The Director brings extensive technical expertise and industry knowledge, and is recognized as a subject matter expert who provides guidance, support, and training to Junior Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develops data solutions of the highest complexity to meet the needs of the organization and business customers.
  • Uses best practices in designing solutions that meet technical and business requirements, with an ability to perform iterative solution testing to ensure specifications are met.
  • Provides technical guidance to team members of all skill levels.
  • Designs and develops data solutions that enable effective self-service data consumption, and can describe their value to the customer.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders in defining metrics that are impactful to the business. Prioritizes efforts based on customer value.
  • Can lead a Project team.
  • Sets expectations of own deliverables of the highest complexity and communicates to a senior audience how designs meet business needs.
  • Turns vague ideas or problems into a data product strategy. Influences strategic thinking across the team and the broader organization.
  • Maintains data solutions, and handles any assessment of their viability and scalability, within team or in partnership with IT.
  • Ensures data solutions include deliverables required to achieve high quality data.
  • Displays an advanced understanding of complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems, and applies principles of metadata, lineage, business definitions, compliance, and data security to project work.
  • Can lead a complex Business Intelligence project. Sets expectations of own deliverables of the highest complexity and communicates to a senior audience how designs meet business needs.
  • Demonstrates a command of new technologies as needed to progress initiatives. Influences across the team, as well as the broader organization.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Bachelor`s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred
  • Master`s in same or related disciplines strongly preferred.
  • 7-10 years experience in coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments, including, but not limited to, working in Python, SQL, ETL, Spark, Snowflake.
  • 7-10 years experience as developer with top quadrant Business Intelligence tools.
