Description

We are seeking a hands-on dynamic leader to oversee our Small Commercial Data Solutions team within our US Retail Markets Risk Analytics organization. This role will manage a team of data analytics engineers and play a pivotal role in shaping, executing and elevating the organization’s data strategy for our Small Commercial stakeholders. The leader hired into this role will be titled a Director II, Data Solutions and is responsible for guiding the vision, architecture, and delivery of innovative data solutions. They will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and across the organization, ensuring their perspectives and needs are integrated into data initiatives and solution design.

 

Blending strategic foresight, technical expertise, and collaborative influence, the Director II empowers their team to deliver impactful, scalable solutions. By championing a culture of data-driven decision-making, the Director II inspires continuous improvement, fosters best practices in data governance, and leverages emerging technologies to maximize business value. This position serves as a critical bridge between stakeholders and our complex data environment, translating ambitious goals into actionable roadmaps, setting benchmarks for excellence, and ensuring that every data initiative supports both immediate priorities and future growth.

 

**This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.**

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in setting strategies for developing data solutions that meet the needs of the organization and business customers.
  • Leads a team in coding scalable solutions.
  • Leverages multiple coding languages to ensure that the team develops reusable code modules to solve problems.
  • Leads a team to use best practices and iterative testing to ensure stakeholders’ needs are met. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for staff.
  • Leads a team in designing and developing data solutions that enables effective self-service data consumption and can describe their value to the customer.
  • Guides stakeholders in defining metrics that are impactful to the business.

 Ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Prior leadership experience, demonstrated ability to motivate and lead individuals.
  • Hands-on experience in coding for data management, data warehousing or other data environments (Python, SQL, SAS, Snowflake). 
  • Passion for being a partner to the business and working with stakeholders to identify issues and present solutions. 

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Bachelor`s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Master`s in same or related disciplines strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years experience in coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments, including, but not limited to, working in Python, SQL, ETL, Spark, Snowflake. 
  • 10+ years experience with top quadrant Business Intelligence tools.
  • Able to identify stakeholder and customer pain points and strategically address those concerns.
  • Able to describe value and influence the prioritization of data solutions.
  • Able to organize and balance resources to address customer pain points.
  • Leads a team to break down data issues and resolve them, by prototyping data solutions to meet the needs of both the organization and business customers.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
