Description

Liberty Mutual is seeking an Environmental Underwriter to join our Site Pollution Underwriting Team! 

 

Our Environmental Underwriters are responsible for developing and growing our Site Pollution Legal Liability and Contractors Legal Liability lines of coverage. They are expected to maintain a profitable, diversified book of business through effective underwriting decision making, mutually beneficial agent/brokers relationships, and application of underwriting tools, systems, and expert resources.

 

We are open to other levels of underwriter dependent on candidate experience.

 

This is a hybrid position. Candidates within 50 miles of the following offices are required to report onsite twice a week: Los Angeles, CA; Orange, CA; and Denver, CO. Please note this policy is subject to change.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Underwrites Liberty Mutual’s Environmental products including risk evaluation, structuring of policy terms and conditions, and pricing of insurance programs in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with target retail brokers to generate a strong flow of business opportunities and renewal retentions.
  • Drive new business, submission, and premium growth through strategic sales and marketing efforts with our broker partners and internal cross-sell initiatives with other profit centers.
  • Provide high level of customer service by timely response to broker requests and deadlines.
  • Develop internal relationships with other company divisions to drive cross marketing efforts.
  • Service and maintain well documented underwriting files for all new and renewal accounts.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
  • At least 1 year, typically 1.5 or more years, of underwriting experience and/or other related business experience.
  • Actively pursuing professional insurance designations.
  • Ability to successfully develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within defined authority.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to successfully develop and maintain productive producer/customer relationships.
  • When applicable, successful completion of certifications.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
