Description

This role is a remote opportunity unless you are within 50 miles of the following locations: Boston MA, Portsmouth NH, Seattle WA, Indianapolis IN, Columbus OH, Plano TX. If so, this will be hybrid (2 days in office).

Summary:

 

As an Assistant Director, Data Strategy within the People, Purpose, and Brand (PP&B) Data Office team, you will be a driving force behind transforming our organization and supporting business outcomes, by shaping a strategic vision for our data initiatives. As part of a team, you’ll manage data projects and programs, acting as a subject matter expert to create and drive data strategies.  

 

As a compelling storyteller, you’ll gain support on the data strategy, while working with business partners to understand business problems and how data can help solve them. You’ll help build data capabilities for PP&B and Enterprise use cases, while keeping up with emerging data trends in the market. 

 

You’ll contribute to an overall roadmap to advance our data maturity and unlock competitive advantage through data. 

 

This post is for 2 Assistant Director openings, each with slightly varying focus areas and skills to build a well-rounded Data Strategy team. Applicants will be interviewed as part of one pool and selected based on overall experience, expertise, and skills.  Each role will require core Data Strategy skills, in addition to one of the focus areas below:

 

Role 1: As an Assistant Director with expertise as a strategic priority champion, you will partner across teams to support strategic visioning and KPI development within both our PP&B priorities, as well as our data fundamental maturity journey.   As part of this, you’ll be responsible for scorecard management and continuously refining a roadmap using data insights. You’ll research and understand industry trends, explain complex data concepts for diverse audiences, and lead cross-functional teams to tackle real business challenges with data.

 

Role 2: As an Assistant Director with skills and expertise in the growing area of AI use cases, you will deploy AI/ML visionary thinking in developing data product strategies to advance our data maturity. This role will partner cross-functionally to evolve our data distribution models, drive data quality and maturity, and modernize our data products to accelerate PP&B’s AI readiness and data-driven innovation. You will partner with digital experience, engineering, analytics, and enterprise architecture teams to drive scalable, secure, and governable data solutions.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and articulate a unified data strategy by collaborating with Talent Strategy, Technology, and Data Product Owners, ensuring alignment with the most critical business capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive updates and presentations to senior leaders, aligning stakeholders on the roadmap, priorities, and business impact of data initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate the data strategy, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders to drive engagement and secure organizational buy-in.
  • Drive alignment and prioritization of data initiatives within PP&B and Enterprise programs.
  • Lead efforts to enhance data maturity by facilitating strategies that advance data fundamentals in coordination with enterprise data organizations.
  • Foster a culture of data literacy and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
  • Support governance teams in embedding privacy, security, and compliance requirements into data lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or Master’s in Strategy, Data Science/Analytics, Business Administration, Information Managements, Operational Research, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience working in data strategy, data analytics, data governance, strategic or business planning, project management, and/or technical data management. Preference given to Talent or HR data experience.
  • Skilled in utilizing data visualization techniques to present insights in a storytelling format.
  • Proficient in translating complex data strategies into compelling narratives that drive decision-making.
  • Experienced in developing high-quality presentations using PowerPoint to clearly communicate key messages.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in communicating intricate topics effectively to varied stakeholders, including senior leaders. 
  • Excellent collaboration skills working with technical and business stakeholders in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into strategic business value.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
