As a Lead Accountant in the Comptroller Accounting Operations organization, you will be exposed to a multitude of different concepts and functions within the company that will all collectively shape you into a well-rounded finance professional. From basic insurance accounting to complex strategic expense initiatives, from Corporate to our Strategic Business Units, you will be given the opportunity to own and/or collaborate on high exposure financial line items that have far reaching implications on Liberty’s strategic initiatives and daily operations.

 

In this role, you will oversee the Company’s Fixed Assets, partner with colleagues on enhancing Expense Allocations within SAP, and work towards creating a unified company-wide approach to reserving for legal expenditures.  You will conduct complex assignments, maintain various financial line items, develop financial statements, and create enhanced analytics as we strive to be effective partners to both internal and external stakeholders. 


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare complex financial reports utilizing a broad knowledge of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and/or review general ledger entries by utilizing set procedures and various accounting systems.
  • Research complex accounting treatment and policies by utilizing available technology and other resources.
  • Research and resolve complex reconciling issues and discrepancies; take corrective measures to prevent issues from repeating.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external groups.
  • Review financial reports for accuracy and ensure timely preparation.
  • Prepare analysis and be prepared to provide explanations for unusual and/or inconsistent trends.
  • Suggest process improvement initiatives and provide solutions to enhance current processes.
  • Collaborate with our offshore partners to ensure work is done timely, accurately, and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Finance) required. CPA or advanced degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience with SAP S4 Hana a plus.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions to achieve results.
  • Communicates well with own team and across organizational boundaries to create alignment and ensure the successful completion of shared goals.
  • Comfortable leading meetings and able to communicate issues and trends to senior management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of accounting principles.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
