GRM Product Solutions is on the hunt for a visionary Director, Product Owner to bring the business vision to reality through technology and truly elevate the Underwriting Experience. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Small Commercial Product Solutions, this high-impact role puts you at the center of Small Commercial leading a talented group of Product Owners in this fast-evolving space.  If you’re passionate about blending technology, leadership, and underwriting expertise to create breakthrough results, this is the role for you!

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An understanding of Small Commercial underwriting
  • Experience with large scale transformations
  • A track record of using new technologies to solve business problems

 Responsibilities:

  • Operating at the intersection of business and technology, the DPO will help SC achieve its profit goals by translating the overall business vision into specific feature strategies and roadmaps.
  • Fosters effective, collaborative relationships across portfolios and domains, promoting a culture of #OneTeam.
  • Works closely with the SC Underwriting organization and Tech leadership to define and prioritize the product backlog, set quality standards for delivery, and ensure the platform remains scalable, compliant, and performant.
  • Partners with Tech leadership to ensure teams are well-resourced, focused on key priorities, and aligned across roadmaps to meet outcomes while working together to remove roadblocks.
  • Drives impactful business outcomes and key performance indicators tied directly to strategic business priorities.
  • Responsible for communicating the product vision effectively to key stakeholders, team members, and senior management.
  • Accountable for business results of the related set of customer journeys or products as measured by relevant KPIs.
  • Leverages KPIs to inform recommendations
  • Uses the product backlog to coordinate the work of product team(s), through each team`s product owner as relevant.
  • Manages delivery of scope across value streams to ensure delivery, partners with delivery teams to ensure user stories are clear and resolves open issues/questions quickly and efficiently.
  • Directly manages a team of Product Owners who are responsible for all aspects of customer journey/product lifecycles.
  • Participates to provide feedback, support, coaching, in sprint-and release plans together with various members of the leadership teams.
  • Coaches and mentors IT and Business Unit counterparts related to product vision and product roles.
  • Ensures customer-driven design considering user pain points usability test results, while using market industry knowledge to deliver a well-positioned product or product portfolio.
  • Leads in Agile development methodology transformation across the company through contribution to Agile education initiatives and communicating agile principles to executive audiences.
  • Monitors the application of Agile principles across product teams.
  • Functions as the final arbiter at the product level or portfolio to order work and accepts the final release plan/roadmap.
  • Manages escalation on trade-offs across the product portfolio.
  • Provides customer-oriented feedback on product and feature demos for scrum sub-teams.
  • Leads the analysis of feasibility, cost ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential programs

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge product management, Agile development methodologies, and experience in organizational change management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc.) and a minimum of 10 years` experience in product development, business, marketing, technology, and/or consulting
  • Master`s degree preferred
  • High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts across an entire business unit
  • High level of proven outcomes managing and mentoring product managers, product owners, and people leaders
  • Technical proficiency required to participate in program increment planning and have an informed, independent voice
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills in order to be seen as the decision maker when interfacing with business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business
  • Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations
  • Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal
  • Encourages non-hierarchical culture

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
