The Position: 

  • We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Product Owner to lead the development and delivery of LMI’s Private Markets reporting and analytics solution. This role sits at the intersection of investment teams, product and technology to ensure stakeholders have access to robust, timely, and actionable insights across our alternatives, private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real assets portfolios. 
  • Reports to the Director of Alternatives Investment Product within the Global Investment Solutions (GIS) function of LMI  
  • The Product Owner translates business milestones and requirements into a product roadmap and owns the outcomes and value creation for both the business and technical workstreams. 
  • Lead a dedicated Scrum team in successful story and backlog creation and oversee the implementation of capabilities and feature sets critical for the private markets investment lifecycle. 
  • Drive root cause analysis and remediation for data quality issues impacting LMI’s reporting dashboards, working with source system owners and developers. 

Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Ownership 

  • Define and own the vision and roadmap for reporting and analytics in Private Markets. 
  • Collaborate with investment professionals, data engineers, and external vendors to deliver high-value features. 
  • Translate business needs into clear product requirements and manage the product backlog. 
  • Oversee development of dashboards and analytical tools and validation, testing and final approval of features prior to end user acceptance (UAT). 
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure user-centered design is embedded throughout the product lifecycle. 
  • Advocate for end-user needs, usability, and accessibility during planning and development. 
  • Identify and trace any data quality issues in partnership with data governance, core data teams, operations, and investment professionals 

Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Act as the voice of the customer (investment teams, operations, risk, and compliance) to ensure reporting tools meet end-user needs. 
  • Lead cross-functional meetings and working groups to gather feedback and align priorities. 

Delivery & Implementation 

  • Lead agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews. 
  • Manage the testing and release of enhancements in collaboration with development teams. 
  • Monitor KPIs to measure impact and improve product iterations. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field; CAIA or CFA a plus. 
  • 5+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or reporting roles within private markets or investment management, 10+ year preferred.  
  • Proven track record of implementing dashboard and analytics reports and/or tools for alternative investments. 
  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to articulate complex ideas and solutions. 
  • Outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams and reconcile diverse user needs and priorities. 
  • Basic knowledge of the alternative investment products and alternatives investment lifecycle, advanced knowledge of alternatives investments preferred. 
  • Exude entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated behavior of extreme ownership and self-driven execution, strategic thought leadership, connecting the dots for the alternative investment data and analytics across stakeholders, product, data and technology. 
  • Basic SQL skills for performing data validation and data quality checks on imported data from platforms like eFront, Snowflake, and WSO, intermediate SQL skills including ability to construct complex joins and aggregations preferred 
  • Deep knowledge and experience with Agile frameworks and methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, is a plus.  
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) preferred.

The role can be based at Liberty Mutual Investments’ (LMI) Boston or NYC office.  The role has a hybrid work arrangement (Boston or NYC, 2 days/week in the office during).

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
