Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative partner: Working with our Liberty Mutual Auto Personal Lines team of scrum masters, product owners and fellow engineers, you’ll tackle technical challenges to ensure our quoting applications have everything they need to quote and sell personal lines products.
  • Comprehensive problem-solver: As you manage the end-to-end development of software products, you’ll analyze issues at the system level and handle any complications that arise by implementing effective solutions focusing on costs, performance and scalability.
  • Skilled technical engineer: You’ll support the implementation of technical features, improvements and innovations.
  • Forward thinker: Simply fixing the problem isn’t enough; using your proactive mindset and initiative, you’ll continually look for ways to improve performance, quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of software engineering experience.
  • An ability to code in Java is a must.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated success in platform modernization initiatives, utilizing technologies such as REST; micro services; AWS cloud-native apps such as DocumentDB and Lamba functions; Java; and SpringBoot.
  • Backend-focused creating scalable APIs / minimal front-end work in JavaScript, as needed.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills—and a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers.
  • A collaborative, adaptable working style, demonstrated initiative and the ability to prioritize your time and efforts.
  • A thorough grasp of technology concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
  • Additional tools: Datadog, Splunk, and Kafka are preferred

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
