Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong understanding of insurance concepts and data modeling expertise, who can take a hands-on leadership role in evolving and governing the Product Definition data model. Initially, this person will be an integral part of both the Data Swarm team and the Holi Cannoli team, collaborating across groups to drive best practices and ensure the data model meets complex business needs.

This position follows a hybrid work model (2 days onsite) and is open to candidates located in Portsmouth, NH; Boston, MA; Plano, TX; Indianapolis, IN; and Columbus, OH. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on the Product Definition data model, with deep expertise in the Product Definition concept in eCLIQ2.0, its schema, and application within the insurance domain.
  • Lead the evolution and continuous improvement of the Product Definition data model, driving innovation and ensuring the model adapts effectively to emerging business needs.
  • Influence overall governance of the Product Definition schema, establishing best practices, standards, and policies to maintain data integrity and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Swarm (or equivalent) team to ensure accurate and effective modeling and updating of new and existing insurance concepts within the schema.
  • Partner with fellow engineers on the Holi Cannoli team to share domain knowledge and best practices related to the Product Definition schema, fostering cross-team learning and alignment.
  • Take ownership of communication with schema consumers regarding updates, including conducting impact analysis and coordinating messaging to ensure stakeholders are informed and prepared for changes.
  • Actively participate in product definition discussions via Slack channels, addressing consumer inquiries, providing schema modeling guidance, and supporting ongoing schema enhancements.
  • Utilize the Product Definition UI to implement and manage schema changes, maintaining data integrity and alignment with business requirements.
  • Contribute to other epics and backlog items on the Holi Cannoli team as needed.
  • Continuously document, update, and refine insurance concepts and data modeling approaches to adapt the schema to evolving product needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • Generally 5+ years of professional experience
  • Highly proficient in data engineering languages and tools, and strong proficiency in general programming languages and frameworks; ability to develop on multiple platforms
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills Extensive knowledge of the following: IT concepts, strategies, methodologies
  • Versed in diverse technologies and new technical architecture principles and concepts
  • Extensive knowledge in layered systems architectures solutions and designs and shared data engineering concepts
  • Business function(s) and I/T industry business issues; extensive knowledge of business operations, strategies and objectives
  • Extensive understanding of agile data engineering concepts and processes
  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker
  • Extensive consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements
  • Extensive understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery
  • Strong collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required
