Description

The Efficient Growth Lifetime Value (LTV) team is looking for a talented, self-driven, and thoughtful Actuary (individual contributor) to join our team! This team delivers critical insights on the expected value of Auto and Home policies at the brand, state, and policy-specific grain. These insights are a core part of the organization's growth strategy, allowing us to determine what kinds of customers deliver the most economic value. 

 

In this role, you would be the point person on holistic LTV methodology, broadly spanning topics like policy segmentation, expected retention, and loss and premium trends. You would evaluate the various components of LTV methodology, ensuring accuracy of predictions, and use deep knowledge on both lines of business to creatively problem-solve questions on efficient growth. An ideal candidate would have solid personal lines experience, strong analytical and technical capabilities, and a curious and collaborative work style.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop lifetime value models which predict the total value of a customer, partnering across the organization to incorporate the organization's latest modeling techniques and trends.
  • Collaborate across many departments to gather key assumptions on loss ratios, retention, and trends, while validating against actuals.
  • Determine impacts from ongoing pricing/UW initiatives on LTV, and incorporate into methodology.
  • Inform pricing strategy using LTV framework, support tactical workstreams for renewal business, and evaluate the economics of customer segments.
  • Improve team capabilities to produce accurate LTVs in a quickly-changing market environment, allowing for agile reaction to such changes.
  • Model inclusiveness by living our values and contribute to creating an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS) designation preferred or comparable education/designation with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience required.
  • Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
  • Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.) with ability to build complex models.
