The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Job Summary 

Reports to the Head of Business Transformation at Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI), leading the execution and scaling of transformation initiatives across investment business units. We are seeking a Senior Associate within the Business Transformation team with deep, hands-on experience in asset management operations—ideally having led major initiatives in credit, structured products, or Limited Partnership (LP) investments. Candidates must understand the nuances of front-, middle-, and back-office processes in institutional investing and have a track record of delivering operational efficiency and measurable results through structured transformation programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead End-to-End Process Redesign: Drive process mapping and reengineering efforts across investment teams. Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions that enhance business performance.
  • Execute Strategic Projects: Lead cross-functional initiatives from discovery through delivery. Ability to synthesize complex issues into key themes and identify solutions. Ensure structured execution, change management, and measurable business impact aligned with transformation goals.
  • Advance Business Capability Maturity: Assess and evolve LMI’s business capabilities. Identify gaps and lead efforts to develop scalable and fit-for-purpose operating models.
  • Define and Track Metrics: Partner with teams to develop OKRs and KPIs. Own the measurement strategy to track progress, inform prioritization decisions, and ensure accountability.
  • Operationalize Strategic Objectives: Translate enterprise goals into actionable transformation roadmaps. Align initiatives with LMI’s investment priorities and core capabilities.
  • Drive Innovation Practices: Facilitate Innovation Sprints and similar forums to build a test-and-learn culture and identify emerging opportunities relevant to the investment domain.
  • Conduct Market & Competitive Analysis: Monitor trends, technologies, and industry developments relevant to asset management to guide planning and execution.

Qualifications

  • Leadership & Execution
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional transformation programs within asset management, from discovery through implementation—including change management and measurable impact tracking.
    • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and delivering results in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Skilled at facilitating cross-functional collaboration and influencing at all levels of the organization.
    • Adept at building trust and securing buy-in from diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Technical & Industry Knowledge
    • Deep understanding of investment operations, particularly in credit, structured products, and Limited Partnerships.
    • Strong understanding of business process modeling and design, strategic planning, Agile practices, and innovation enablement.
    • Experience with tools such as SimCorp Dimention, Anaplan, EDM, Aladdin, eFront, Wall Street Office and Moody’s is preferred.
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Business or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in asset management/investment operations, with a proven track record leading transformation or operational improvement initiatives.
