We have two slightly different Project Manager opportunities. Both descriptions and qualifications are below. The actual internal level/grade and compensation for this role will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, overall experience, and skill level.

 

Preferred Location: Boston MA/Portsmouth NH, with a hybrid work schedule of 2 days in office.

May consider remote candidates depending on experience and if within 50 miles of these additional locations: Seattle WA, Indianapolis IN, Columbus OH, Plano TX, it will also be a hybrid work schedule. 

 

Position 1: Project Manager of Learning Design II

 

Summary:

Manage learning projects that are non-cyclical and varied, aligning with the project management life cycle (initiating/defining; planning; executing; close-out) and supporting business priorities. May also perform some project work, such as research and analysis. At this level, manages projects to include those considered complex in nature with function-wide impact. Provides updates to and collaborates with manager regarding complex situations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages projects to include those considered complex in nature with function-wide impact (e.g., strategically important, technical in nature, large budget, 12-month timeframe, etc.)
  • Defines the business case with input from stakeholders. Identifies and gains agreement on project objectives, scope, timing, and resources.
  • Plans activities/tasks that will deliver the desired results and oversees day-to-day work and monitoring of progress towards goals.
  • Conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports to communicate the status of projects to stakeholders within and beyond the project team.
  • Directs stakeholders towards consensus points and typically gains buy-in of recommendations.
  • Escalates and works to resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at risk. Identifies and provides visibility into trade-offs between options and influences recommended approach.
  • Performs project close-out steps to include identifying lessons learned/best practices to inform the success of future projects. Applies continuous improvement methodologies throughout the project management lifecycle.
  • Works with design lead to identify the best resources based on capacity and skills of the design team
  • Manages vendor engagements, including working with contracts on SOWs, throughout the design phase of learning solutions
  • Oversees training budget lifecycle

Position 2: Project Manager of Learning Operations I

 

Summary:

In partnership with the design team, coordinates operational related tasks for learning projects including communications, marketing and brand for Technology Learning. May also perform some project work, such as research and analysis at this level, leads moderately complex to complex projects. Works under minimal direction from manager on more complex tasks.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates operational tasks required to support the learning design team, managing objectives, scope, timing, and resources related to training delivery.
  • Plans activities/tasks that will deliver the desired results and oversees day-to-day work and monitoring of progress towards goals.
  • Conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports to communicate the status of projects in coordination with the design team.
  • Escalates and works to resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at risk. Identifies and provides visibility into trade-offs between options and influences recommended approach.
  • Performs project close-out steps for operational items to include identifying lessons learned/best practices to inform the success of future projects. Applies continuous improvement methodologies throughout the project management lifecycle.
  • Support of in-person learning events

Qualifications

Position 1: Project Manager of Learning Design II

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and concepts.
  • Strong ability to manage all aspects of the project management life cycle.
  • Displays strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills.
  • Stakeholder management
  • Advanced presentation, influencing, and stakeholder/relationship management skills.
  • Strong business operations knowledge to include understanding the Learning & Development function.
  • Experience with skills-based learning methodologies and practices
  • Proficient with project management tools.
  • Competencies typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to include project management work.

Position 2: Project Manager of Learning Operations I

 

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and concepts.
  • Proven ability to manage the project management life cycle for projects of varying complexity.
  • Proficient with project management tools.
  • Displays strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills.
  • Advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills.
  • Communications and marketing experience
  • Using data to drive decision-making
  • Strong business operations knowledge to include understanding the Learning & Development function.
  • Competencies typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in addition to 6+ years of relevant experience to include project management work. Advanced degree preferred.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
