The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our team as the Director of Data Strategy, an individual contributor role. This key role will be responsible for supporting the formulation, articulation, and planning of strategic data investments.

 

This role will also focus on driving strategic alignment and efficient use of third-party data to drive business outcomes, ensuring our organization remains at the forefront of data driven innovation and excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Vision and Roadmap Development: Support the strategic vision for the data strategy roadmap, driving alignment among executives, business leaders, and data and IT teams. Detail the necessary data capabilities to deliver key stakeholder goals and objectives
  • Third-Party Data Alignment: Focus on aligning third-party data to drive efficient business outcomes, leveraging external data sources to enhance internal data capabilities and solve business problems
  • AI Data Strategy: Lead the formulation and integration of AI-focused data strategies to ensure the Data Office is formally and collaboratively supporting efforts to prepare our data ecosystem for innovative and impactful business outcomes via AI
  • Research and Innovation: Research emerging data and technology trends. Monitor best-in-class companies for data innovations and socialize learnings with business partners and data teams
  • Data Use Case Identification: Help other teams identify data use cases and insight capabilities aligned with the data strategy roadmap. Ensure the team understands business problems and how data can solve them. Partner with technology and data teams to discuss and ideate on approaches to solve these problems
  • Prioritization and Alignment: Prioritize data use cases to build data capabilities for the organization. Collaborate with Agile (project) teams accountable for sequencing data use cases, influencing prioritization to achieve efficient build-out of data capabilities
  • Agile Mindset: Partner with or participate within Agile teams working to deliver data solutions. Inspire the agile team to drive results by sharing the vision of the data strategy roadmap
  • Compelling Storytelling: Create and deliver presentations to a senior audience. Adeptly socialize ideas and iterate on feedback to ensure maximum buy-in and impact of the strategic message

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Experience in communicating recommendations to senior business leaders preferred
  • BA/BS, or relevant work experience, in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative discipline strongly preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience working in coding methodologies and design principles, particularly in open source tools and technology
