The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Domain Director, Data Products. They’ll be responsible for the GRS Data Office reference domain, a key part of the Global Data Hub. They’ll work across the GRS data office and with aligned partners in key business functions (actuary, underwriting etc.) to focus on aligning key areas such as: Product, Segment, and Industry. They’ll also be responsible for setting our overall reference domain strategy.

 

The Domain Director acts as a senior subject matter expert for analytics and business users in their designated areas, working closely with IT architects, Product Owners, and data office teams to support data-driven decision-making. Their role involves understanding overarching business capabilities and fostering partnerships to gather consensus on requirements. They synthesize complex, segment-specific needs into broader global requirements while acknowledging the differences between global and segment needs. The Domain Director is crucial for aligning discussions on global data within their domain and prioritizing domain work, ultimately advocating for a unified global vision and scalable solutions.

 

The role reports to the Global Data Hub Director within the GRS Data Solutions and Governance team in the GRS Data Office. The team overall will provide strategic solutions to create multi-segment data solutions and enable analysis and insight across GRS. The role will require strategic thinking, project management experience, and the ability to drive strategic alignment. The ideal candidate loves working with data, is excited by the challenges of working across time zones, an innate curiosity, and the ability to work with ambiguity. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Support the build out and execution of our reference domain strategy
  • Partner across various functions to drive alignment and engagement in support of GRS data office priorities
  • Manage a portfolio of subdomains (product, segment, industry etc.). including those considered complex with function-wide and/or SBU-wide impact. This includes projects that are high visibility, include many stakeholders crossing multiple functional groups, and those outside the U.S.
  • Focus on global outcomes and scale while delivering segment specific value when possible
  • Become a Global subject matter expert for your subdomains, understanding how they are used for segment purposes and how we can achieve a standardized global view
  • Escalate and work to resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at risk
  • Identify and provide visibility into trade-offs between options, while strongly influencing the recommended approach

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Experience in communicating recommendations to senior business leaders preferred
  • BA/BS, or relevant work experience, in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative discipline strongly preferred
  • 5-7+ years of experience working in coding and data solutions design principles, particularly in open source tools and technology
