Description

The Company

Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) manages Liberty Mutual Insurance Group’s (LMIG) global financial assets across global markets and private domains to build capital and generate income. With over $100 billion in assets under management (AUM) and a team of nearly 300 investment, finance, and operations professionals located in Boston, MA, and New York, NY, LMI offers the best of both worlds — the look and feel of a boutique investment firm with the reputation and financial strength of a global leader.

LMI has been on a transformation path to spur innovation, capitalize on deep expertise, and scale its returns on long-term flexible capital through a “one firm, one portfolio, one team” mindset. Our operating model is built on three pillars: centralized portfolio construction, asset management, and investment-enabling services. The teams are structured as Investment Business Units (IBUs) working in concert: Global Strategy & Capital Allocation, Risk Management, Global Credit Markets, Global Alternative Markets, Global Liquid Markets, and Global Investment Solutions. Our portfolio spans a broad spectrum of public and private asset classes, and we are committed to expanding our capabilities and our toolkit in furtherance of our mission.

The newly focused Data Office is responsible for defining and executing LMI’s enterprise data strategy, governing the use and integrity of data, and building out the core data assets that enable portfolio-wide insights, operational excellence, and advanced analytics.

As Assistant Director, Data Solutions, you will help drive these efforts by aligning business needs with data priorities, guiding strategic initiatives, and supporting the development of critical data capabilities. • Collaborate across Data, Product, and Technology teams to support coordinated execution and ensure solutions remain aligned to the strategic roadmap.
  • Translate complex business and investment requirements into clearly defined data strategies, use cases, and framing documents that drive decision-making and execution.
  • Monitor best-in-class firms and emerging industry trends in asset management data strategy. Curate and socialize learnings with internal teams to influence roadmap direction and inspire new use cases.
  • Act as a compelling storyteller, capable of synthesizing strategic insights and value narratives to gain stakeholder support and shape executive-level decision-making.
  • Develop business cases and ROI models that articulate the value of data investments. Define impact metrics that demonstrate effectiveness and align with enterprise goals.
  • Influence the sequencing and prioritization of data use cases, identifying cross-cutting themes and ensuring strategic, efficient capability build-out.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of investment data domains, including portfolio holdings, transactions, classifications, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into data strategy and influence stakeholders across a matrixed organization.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Power BI) and foundational knowledge of data governance or architecture.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas into actionable plans for both technical and business audiences.
