Description

The Company

Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) manages Liberty Mutual Insurance Group’s (LMIG) global financial assets across global markets and private domains to build capital and generate income. With over $100 billion in assets under management (AUM) and a team of nearly 300 investment, finance, and operations professionals located in Boston, MA, and New York, NY, LMI offers the best of both worlds — the look and feel of a boutique investment firm with the reputation and financial strength of a global leader.

LMI has been on a transformation path to spur innovation, capitalize on deep expertise, and scale its returns on long-term flexible capital through a “one firm, one portfolio, one team” mindset. Our operating model is built on three pillars: centralized portfolio construction, asset management, and investment-enabling services. The teams are structured as Investment Business Units (IBUs) working in concert: Global Strategy & Capital Allocation, Risk Management, Global Credit Markets, Global Alternative Markets, Global Liquid Markets, and Global Investment Solutions. Our portfolio spans a broad spectrum of public and private asset classes, and we are committed to expanding our capabilities and our toolkit in furtherance of our mission.

The Position

Liberty Mutual Investments is seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Securitized Products Analyst to join our dynamic Global Liquid Markets team. This role provides early-career professionals with a unique opportunity to build a strong foundation in the structured products market, while gaining direct exposure to senior investment professionals and real-time market dynamics. It’s an ideal position for a high-performing candidate eager to learn, contribute, and grow within the securitized markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in evaluating opportunities across the structured products markets, including ABS, CLOs, CMBS, and RMBS, by working closely with senior analysts, traders, and portfolio managers to assess relative value across the capital stack. Contribute to the formulation and presentation of high-conviction investment ideas for both sector allocation and security selection to enhance risk-adjusted returns.
  • Collaborate with trading, research, and risk teams to support the execution of LMI’s securitized investment strategies, ensuring alignment between market views, portfolio positioning, and risk management objectives.
  • Partner with portfolio managers and traders to help implement investment strategies and support communication of views and positioning to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Apply analytical techniques to large datasets, assisting in the development and maintenance of cash flow models to evaluate prepayment behavior, credit risk, and asset performance.
  • Participate in investment due diligence and support the ongoing monitoring of existing positions to identify emerging risks and performance drivers.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of tools, models, and systems to improve investment analysis and portfolio management. Leverage data and technology to drive process efficiency and deeper insights.
  • Begin building relationships with market participants, including issuers, rating agencies, bankers, and institutional investors, to stay up to date on market developments and uncover new investment opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (such as the CFA) are a plus.
  • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in investments, finance, or data analysis. Prior experience in fixed income or structured products is a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience in financial modeling and data analysis. Advanced Excel skills are required. Familiarity with Python, SQL, or other data tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interest in fixed income markets and structured finance.
