The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

The Aviation Maintenance Manager plays a vital role in ensuring that every aircraft remains in peak condition while strictly following regulatory standards. This leader not only sets strategic maintenance goals and manages plans and budgets in close partnership with the Director of Aviation but also champions the development and motivation of a high-performing, professional maintenance team. As an integral member of the Aviation leadership team, this role works together with other aviation departments to prioritize safety, deliver outstanding customer experience, and continuously drive operational excellence across the board.

 

What you'll do:

  • Develop strategic maintenance plans to boost aircraft availability while integrating innovative technologies for enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer guidelines across maintenance operations.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and professional development of maintenance personnel, setting clear goals and growth plans for the team.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Aviation to create and implement robust maintenance training programs and technical performance standards.
  • Work in close partnership with Flight Operations, Passenger Services, and Flight Support teams to ensure smooth communication and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Pilot and Manager, Passenger Services to align and harmonize procedures across pilots, flight attendants, and maintenance teams.
  • Identify and manage vendor relationships to support both maintenance and facility operations.
  • Administer maintenance activities with a keen focus on budgeting, comprehensive reporting, and effective schedule management of maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain and update operational documentation, including key sections of the General Operations Manual, ensuring all changes are clearly communicated.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in a business aviation maintenance setting, specifically working on large-cabin turbine aircraft under Part 91, 91K, or 135 operations, with hands-on expertise in inspections, repairs, and returning aircraft to service.
  • Must hold a valid FAA A&P certificate; IA is preferred. Demonstrated completion of OEM-recommended training on Gulfstream or similarly comparable aircraft.
  • Prior experience in supervisory roles, leadership, and team development is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
    Must possess a valid U.S. passport, with the ability to travel unrestricted worldwide.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Capable of lifting or moving heavy objects (such as a life raft).
  • A college degree or equivalent experience is necessary.
