The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

We seek a visionary leader to help guide and shape this transformation as a key player in our Business Agility Distribution Domain. This is a unique opportunity to lead the Risk Intake and Operations Enablement Portfolio at the intersection of strategy, execution, and innovation.

 

As the Portfolio Leader, you will drive transformation and be a strategic thought leader, partnering with key stakeholders across the business to drive alignment and foster a product mindset throughout the organization. This role demands a blend of visionary leadership, product expertise, and agile execution capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

     

  • Strategic Leadership: Act as a thought leader in product strategy, drive the vision/ roadmap for our Global Submission Management and Global Workflow & Task Management Capabilities, setting the vision for agile product ownership that aligns with the organization’s broader goals and market dynamics
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the company, acting as a trusted partner to executives, technology teams, and other business leaders to ensure alignment on priorities and outcomes
  • Product Mindset Champion: Advocate for and embed a product-centric culture within the organization, emphasizing value creation, customer focus, and iterative development. Manages delivery of scope, partners with the Leadership Team and Business Sponsors to align on key functional strategic outcomes, Portfolio and initiative performance, and funding/resource demand and allocation
  • Agile Transformation: Lead the organization’s ongoing agile transformation, driving continuous improvement in product development processes and promoting agility at all levels of the company. Participates in providing feedback, support, and coaching, in sprint-and-release plans together with Product Managers and Technology counterparts
  • Innovation and Thought Leadership: Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging practices in product development, bringing new ideas and opportunities to the organization
  • Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and inspire a team of Product Managers and Product Owners, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance. Lead by example in adopting agile practices and a growth mindset. Help oversee their respective agile teams and stakeholders to align priorities, remove roadblocks, and secure resources.  Works closely with IT and other Business counterparts to ensure resource alignment in support of Portfolio vision and roadmaps
  • Business Knowledge: Deeply understand the businesses that comprise GRS, their go-to-market strategies, their common opportunities to leverage scale, and their unique differences that are required to win in local markets
  • Outcome Ownership:Define and communicate clear, measurable outcomes (OKRs) for product teams and sets at ambitious digital portfolio strategy, ensuring they are aligned with strategic business objectives and customer needs
  • Customer Centric: Partner with User Experience and Design Team to ensure customer-driven design is prioritized, considering user pain points from usability test results and market industry knowledge to deliver a well-positioned product.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Proven experience as a senior product leader within agile organizations
  • Strong track record of successfully driving organizational change and transformation
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies, with experience leading agile transformations
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills, with the ability to build consensus across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on product management background and a keen understanding of customer needs and market trends
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience developing high-performing, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability even in the face of some level of uncertainty
  • Experience in business, engineering, technology, and/or consulting
  • High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for products within the Distribution Domain and understand business value impacts
  • Master`s degree preferred

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge product management, Agile development methodologies, and experience in organizational change management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc and a minimum of 10 years` experience in product development, business, marketing, technology, and/or consulting
  • Master`s degree preferred
  • High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts across an entire business unit
  • High level of proven outcomes managing and mentoring product managers, product owners, and people leaders
  • Technical proficiency required to participate in program increment planning and have an informed, independent voice
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills in order to be seen as the decision maker when interfacing with business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business
  • Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations
  • Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal
  • Encourages non-hierarchical culture
