This role has a hybrid work schedule  (2 days onsite) and we are considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX and Indianapolis, IN.

 

Job Introduction:

 

Do you have experience leading IT-for-IT enterprise platform technologies and eager to make a significant impact within a dynamic organization? We are seeking a Product Owner III for our strategic Cloud Runtimes Platform team within Global Digital Services Application Environments.  

  • Note: we are open to candidates with experience leading enterprise platforms that are consumed by cross-technology roles. Specific experience with container platforms is preferred but not required. 

In this role, you will represent the voice of the application teams across the IT organization, collaborating closely with IT-wide stakeholders to translate complex technical requirements into prioritized epics and features. You’ll evolve our platform to meet varied, line-of-business specific needs while ensuring alignment to IT’s strategic technology goals. 

 

About the job: 

 

Execution Responsibilities and IT Operations Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with multiple Agile teams to clarify business needs, align deliverables around product strategy, and prioritize features accordingly. 

  • Prioritize platform stability and resilience, prioritizing team engineering & operational excellence efforts to enable seamless platform scalability as platform’s workload significantly increases in next 2-5 years. 

  • Ensure the successful delivery of 6-week product increments by managing 2 team’s sprint backlogs and breaking down initiatives into achievable milestones. 

  • Own and maintain the product stories, ensuring that it contains clear, actionable acceptance criteria for 2 engineering teams to deliver in 2-week, Agile sprints. 

  • Foster consensus through collaboration, developing outcomes that motivate and empower team members. 

  • Balance tactical and strategic decisions while collaborating with other product owners and technical leaders. 

  • Proactively engage platform users and lead stakeholder requirements gathering sessions to gain insight into product usage and identify improvement opportunities. 

  • Monitor and maintain product health, proactively identifying potential impacts to other team's product roadmaps and operations. 

  • Analyze feasibility, cost, and other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product offering.  

Strategic Product Development: 

  • Develop a Cloud Runtime Platform portfolio vision, aligning with both business and technology stakeholders.  

  • Collaboratively create and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for an Enterprise Platform offering. 

  • Own multiple digital products related to container runtimes and articulate their value and outcomes by developing measurable metrics & KPIs. 

  • Define and communicate deliverables based on both financial priorities and stakeholder requirements that you gather via close relationships with business stakeholders and technology leaders. 

  • Develop and achieve product-level key performance indicators (KPIs) for an enterprise scale technology platform. 

  • Partner with User Experience teams to deliver intuitive and cohesive cloud products that meet a wide variety of technology groups' infrastructure needs. 

 
 
 
 
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (business, computer science, humanities etc. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of Product Owner experience supporting agile teams.
  • Experience in cloud-native technologies required. Container orchestration and Kubernetes are a plus but not required. Basic understanding of microservices architecture, observability and basic networking concepts are also a plus but not required. 
  • Proven ability to make decisions based on competing inputs and deep experience with broad stakeholder management are critical. 
  • Proven track record of a product mindset.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, container runtime environments, telemetry and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
