Pay Philosophy

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

The Global Risk Solutions (GRS) architecture team is looking for a Portfolio Architect. As a Portfolio Architect, you will be instrumental in driving the evolution of our global claims platform by delivering API-enabled digital products that integrate key business capabilities. You will lead and support large-scale modernization initiatives designed to reduce technical debt, streamline operations, and enhance system performance. In this role, you will establish and enforce standards, guidelines, and best practices for application, data, and technology architecture, fostering a culture of standardization and transformation within the architecture team. Your ability to collaborate across various domains in the insurance lifecycle and engage with external partners will be essential for driving successful integrations and ensuring seamless delivery. Moreover, you will ensure that technology roadmaps are not only actionable but also closely aligned with our strategic goals, which will be critical to your success.

 

You will take on the responsibility of establishing and providing leadership for the technology strategy and roadmaps for your market portfolio or group of product lines. By working closely with Solutions Architects and business leaders, you will make informed engineering choices that align with our enterprise well-architected framework. Your contributions will also include maintaining enterprise methodologies and techniques, encompassing standards and guidelines for technical management and process development across the organization. You will develop specifications for new products, services, applications, and service offerings while providing technical oversight and architecture solutions for large, strategic, and complex system and application development projects.

About this role:

  • Partner with business leadership to identify challenges and opportunities for technological innovation.
  • Establish a clear and consistent technology vision through collaboration and influence.
  • Responsible for the development of the north star architecture and actionable roadmaps for the Claims platform informed by business strategy and objectives.
  • Develop enterprise architecture design patterns, principles, and best practices to enhance platform delivery.
  • Foster a culture of standardization and transformation in architecture.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and benchmarks to assess the feasibility of architectural solutions.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly to a diverse range of audiences.
  • Build positive relationships with vendors and influencers within the enterprise to accelerate delivery.
  • Mentor architects, engineers, and senior leaders, inspiring senior technical contributors.
  • Stay informed about industry and enterprise initiatives to help product owners and IT leadership prioritize the platform vision.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • 12-15+ years of related experience
  • Experience with Guidewire Insurance suite (ex ClaimCenter)
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing cloud-native architectures on AWS, with experience and the ability to leverage serverless architecture to improve scalability and reduce operational overhead.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture principles, patterns, and best practices, particularly in relation to building and deploying scalable applications. Experience with container orchestration using AWS ECS or Kubernetes a plus.
  • Expertise in designing and developing RESTful and GraphQL APIs. Familiarity with API management tools and practices, including API versioning, documentation, and security.
  • Experience delivering of message/event-driven design patterns (ex pub/sub, event sourcing and CQRS).
  • Expertise with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (ex GitHub Actions)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to various stakeholders driving influence to achieve aligned outcomes.
