The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to participate in, support and manage core reporting functions for GRS USGAAP financials, collaborate with teams across the organization, and be a driver of key initiatives implementation. You will work closely with Home Office and International Finance teams to drive standardization and consistency of financial reports, accounting treatments, and best practices across GRS. You'll coordinate with various teams within GRS and across Liberty Mutual to facilitate the monthly close process, provide guidance, advice, and support to ensure financial statements are complete, accurate and timely. You will independently plan and monitor close processes and support the analysis and reporting of results in a deadline focused environment. You will use increasing business acumen and analytical expertise to perform standard and ad-hoc financial analysis and effectively communicate the findings, insights, results and recommendations to management. You will also lead efforts to continuously improve processes to ensure work is performed in the fastest, most efficient means possible.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading complex workstreams and processes to ensure month-end reporting expectations, deadlines, and deliverables for USGAAP and Management reporting requirements are met in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
  • Ensures the USGAAP financial statements integrity, safeguards, and ethics are upheld through adherence to Key Controls and necessary steps are taken to mitigate material misstatement risks through use of critical thinking, analytical reasoning, communication, coordination, and appropriate escalation.
  • Prepares and reviews various reconciliations, analysis, reporting submissions, journal entries, consolidated reports and statements, ad-hoc requests, supplemental exhibits, attestation documentation, annual disclosures and key controls.
  • Lead projects ranging from moderate to high scope and complexity. Identifies project opportunities and constraints to develop and communicate project timeline to Management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accomplish project assignment.
  • Collaborates with various home office and country stakeholders to ensure financial results are complete, accurate and timely, provide explanation and insight to stakeholders and leadership, identify improvement opportunities, share best practices and process efficiencies, develop understanding of expectations and requirements, help troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Oversee updating and upkeep of financial reporting system through change management, coordinating enhancements, identifying issues, UAT testing, and aiding in resolving production problems. Trains others on financial systems and manages key interfaces and interdependencies. May make recommendations for financial systems enhancements and associated processes; and also participate in or lead their implementation.
  • Continually assesses the business value, efficacy and efficiency of the work performed, propose improvements, and collaborate to implement. Lead ongoing strategic initiatives to thoughtfully shift work to most suitable partners to create team capacity that can be leveraged on higher value initiatives. Provide coaching, training, support, feedback and review for strategic partners.
  • Foster the development of teammates by sharing expertise, practices, and experience through training, walkthroughs, and peer review.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree (Finance or Accounting) required.
  • CPA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of finance experience.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results.
  • Communicates well with own team and across organizational boundaries to ensure the successful completion of shared goals.
  • Comfortable leading meetings and able to communicate issues and trends to senior management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Solid understanding of Finance Tools and Analytical Methods.
