The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

 

We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst for our Actuarial Reserving Support Team at Global Risk Solutions (GRS) Actuarial. If you’re someone who enjoys digging into data, solving problems, and improving processes, this role is for you. You’ll use your skills in Python and SQL to automate tasks, enhance processes, and provide insights on GRS reserves. We value independent thinkers who can learn and apply new tools to solve complex issues.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Automate and Improve Processes:  Use Python, SQL, and other tools to manage and enhance data processes for GRS reserving. Handle large data sets efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with reserving actuaries to understand their needs and develop custom technical solutions. Communicate clearly and effectively with various teams.
  • Present Technical Insights: Explain complex technical work to different stakeholders, including actuaries and senior management.
  • Special Projects: Participate in projects involving tools like Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and ResQ reserving software. Work with teams across the global GRS organization.
  • Develop Tools and Processes: Create tools and documentation that improve transparency and efficiency in data processes.

 

Pre-set Qualifications/Preferred Skills:

  • Strong skills in Python and SQL are essential. We also appreciate expertise in data visualization, database management, or automation tools.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools and a willingness to explore new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Displays strong research, problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, influencing, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Strong business operations knowledge to include understanding the function's value chain and market conditions.
  • Solid ability to support change and impart value within an organization.
  • Solid project management skills as part of implementing business process changes.
  • Strong knowledge of available data sources, strengths and shortcomings.
  • May also be relevant based on the particular needs of the position
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and solid knowledge of database software.
  • Solid knowledge of business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in addition to 5+ years of relevant experience to include business analysis work.
