As a principal software engineer at Liberty Mutual, you’ll consult on highly compAs a Principal Software Engineer in USRM Claims, you will work collaboratively on a geographically diverse agile team to develop and enhance complex systems and/or software from user stories and technical/architectural specifications. You will analyze complex technical system problems and create innovative solutions that exceed customer expectations.

***This is a hybrid role requiring two days a week in the Plano, TX office**

 

In this role you will:

  • Work in an agile environment to develop creative solutions for our claims product.
  • Accelerate speed to market by addressing current product needs and developing long-term strategic solutions using technologies such as React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, and other potential backend languages.
  • Utilize cloud services and tools, including AWS, Cloud Foundry, and CDNs like Akamai.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multiple object-oriented and functional programming languages.
  • Build and implement RESTful services.
  • Employ an open-minded and collaborative approach to create innovative technical solutions.
  • Analyze technical system problems to design and implement effective, flexible solutions.
  • Handle end-to-end development, including coding, testing, and debugging in each development cycle.
  • Develop automated tests across multiple scopes, including unit, system, integration, and regression testing.
  • Mentor new and junior developers.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement

 

Qualifications

Skills

  • Excellent negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building capabilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for working in teams
  • Node JS, React, AWS, Graphql, Redis, MongoDB
  • Proficiency in multiple object-oriented and functional programming languages knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies, architectural concepts, and principles
  • A deep understanding of layered solutions and designs
  • Awareness of policies regarding security and privacy
  • Understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics and incremental deliver

Highly competitive applicants will preferably have experience with:

  • Understanding of Cloud architecture concepts
  • Understanding of insurance industry and products
  • Excited by trying new technology and learning new tools

Education

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
