The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

The Position

 

The Energy Transition & Infrastructure (ET&I) strategy invests holistically across the infrastructure landscape including opportunities in traditional energy, digital infrastructure, diversified infrastructure, renewables, and energy transition. The team's mandate is to deliver compelling, risk-adjusted returns with strong downside protection and significant upside potential. The team leverages subject matter expertise, ability to underwrite complexity, speed to execute, and a peer-oriented go-to-market strategy to establish ET&I as a differentiated partner of choice. This hire will be a deal captain leading execution across a variety of transaction types with responsibility as a senior member of the team to drive ET&I’s future growth and investment strategy.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead value-add infrastructure equity transactions with a focus on directs and co-investments as well as fund and platform opportunities
  • Execute on all aspects of deal execution including sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, structuring and negotiation, management of the investment committee process, legal documentation, and asset management
  • Manage multiples projects at a time
  • Work with external partners as well as LMI’s legal, asset allocation, risk, and accounting & operations teams to develop customized investment opportunities and strategic partnerships
  • Engage with external counterparties and market participants to enhance ET&I’s presence in the space
  • Drive robust relative value discussions across the organization and seek to generate optimal risk-adjusted returns for the overall portfolio
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and be willing to work cross-functionally to add value across the organization
  • Pursue the development of technology, data and analytics needed to support the role
  • Develop and train junior team members

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in private equity infrastructure investing from sourcing through to structuring, execution and asset management of complex transactions
  • Deep experience underwriting investments with an ability to identify risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies
  • Proven investment track record with experience overseeing a range of investments across sectors
  • Experience in managing deal teams and external constituents
  • Extensive network of investors, management teams, and advisors across the infrastructure landscape
  • Experience working from initial business plan review through execution
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work across business units (finance, accounting, operations, risk management, public/private markets)
  • Possess exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • High-performing team player with a willingness to be flexible and take on additional responsibilities depending on the needs of the business
