The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

Join the GRS Underwriting Operations Analytics team within the North America Data Office and step into a high-visibility role that will help shape the future of GRS North America Underwriting. Our team, which sits across Canada and the US, helps provide critical insights and analysis to guide our North America underwriting strategy. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic thinker to lead the recently announced book transfer from USRM Small Commercial to GRS Middle Market. This involves transitioning over 5,000 accounts, totaling more than $750 million in premiums. This position offers significant executive visibility, allowing you to influence key operational decisions and make a lasting impact on the organization.

 

In this Director role, you will lead a 4-person specialized pod of analytics, reporting, and data resources, ensuring that all project objectives are aligned, and critical deliverables are met. Being the main lead representing the North America data office, you will collaborate directly with senior executives and key stakeholders. In this role, you’ll also be the lead analytics resource, delivering high-impact insights and influence our operational strategy.

 

This role will involve fostering a collaborative environment with both full-time employees and contractors who will report to you in a dotted line capacity. As the leader of this working team, you will ensure that they operate as an effective unit. With proven experience in delivering strategic insights, you should possess strong leadership capabilities and the ability to communicate effectively, particularly with executives. Technical expertise in data analytics, paired with a strategic mindset, will be essential.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all operational analysis tied to the small commercial integration
  • Conducts complex analyses with strategic impact on underwriting operations and/or functional groups
  • Lead the working team through various deliverables, ensuring that everyone clearly understands the needs and priorities
  • Build and develop detailed and actionable analytical solutions that support the small commercial integration
  • Presents findings/recommendations and leads discussions with senior leadership at the functional or department level
  • Mentor/coach junior analysts or rotational analysts as needed

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or another quantitative field plus a minimum of 7 years, typically 10 or more years, of applied analytical experience.
  • Proven track record of applying advanced analytics to improve business results and resolve business problems
  • Expert knowledge of data sources, tools and business drivers
  • Possesses ability to articulate what limits are to certain tools (SAS) or methodologies
  • Expert ability in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (SAS, SQL)
  • Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision-making, communication and project management skills
