Seeking qualified and experienced candidates with Construction Liability claims experience to join the Liberty Mutual family!

 

The GRS North America Construction Complex team plays a pivotal role in driving and enabling the success across our Commercial Casualty organization. Our team is responsible for determining coverage, investigating complex and highly complex commercial casualty claims by determining liability, setting and adjusting reserves, evaluating the claim, negotiating a settlement, authorizing and resolving the claim. We have a current and immediate opening for a Senior Technical Claims Specialist who will demonstrate a high level of expertise and sound judgment in complex matters, and may act as a subject matter expert for complex Construction claims.

 

This is not a typical Construction Complex Adjuster desk role.  We are looking for someone with flexibility to assist in training others, participating in special projects, and assisting the Manager as needed.  This role is preparing the Senior Technical Claims Specialist for a managerial role, and allowing the ideal candidate to assist with our operation in different ways. 

 

In this role you will lead Construction Complex strategy, which includes deepening collaboration across GRS teams, gaining alignment to drive value for the line, and improve speed of decision making to help us win with purpose, together. This role will also partner with our Excess Casualty to assess product strategy.  If you have experience with Complex Construction Liability claims, please apply!

 

You will be required to go into the office twice a month if you reside within 50 miles of one of the following offices: Bala Cynwyd, PA; Westborough, MA; Hoffman Estates, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Lake Oswego, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Plano, TX; Suwanee, GA; Syracuse, NY; Tampa, FL; or Weatogue, CT.  Please note this policy is subject to change.

 

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Determine coverage, investigate and negotiate claim for settlement or may deny claims as determined by investigation.
  • Review lawsuit documentation and supporting documents, claims file, investigation, etc.  Establish actions to be taken to resolve lawsuit.
  • Establish appropriate working team (Home Office Legal, Defense Counsel and Home Office Claims) based on allegations established in suite.
  • Manage the practices and billing activities of outside Counsel, Medical Providers or Vendors.
  • Train and mentor staff as appropriate; manage relationships and act as a liaison with various business partners (e.g. Underwriting, Reinsurance, Etc.).
  • Participate in special projects as assigned or approved for.

Critical aspects of this role include:

  •  Determine loss coverage, amounts owed, discovery plans, setting reserves and negotiation.
  • Accountability for security of financial processing of claims, as well as security information contained in claims files.
  • Keeping abreast of existing and proposed legislation, court decisions and trends and experience, pertaining to specialty coverage issues.
  • Analyzing the impact upon claims policies and advise Claims Management so appropriate action can be taken where required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred,
  • 5 to 7 years Commercial Claims adjusting experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial casualty claims investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving & expense management, resolution strategy, negotiation, litigation management, claims evaluation as well as the insurance legal and regulatory environment.
  • Experience training and mentoring others in a claims environment would be ideal.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of skill in the area of customer focus, problem solving, communications, gaining support, teamwork, and adaptability and demonstrated ability to work independently, achieve results and execute thoroughly
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years claims adjusting experience.  Prior experience with Construction Liability claims in excess of $250,000 or $500,000 strongly desired!
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial casualty claims investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving & expense management, resolution strategy, negotiation, litigation management, claims evaluation as well as the insurance legal and regulatory environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of skill in the area of customer focus, problem solving, communications, gaining support, teamwork, and adaptability and demonstrated ability to work independently, achieve results and execute thoroughly.
