The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Global Finance Technology supports the mission critical processing and analysis of Liberty Mutual’s ~$50B in revenue, annually.  

 

Liberty Mutual Technology is searching for a VP & Senior Director of Global Finance Technology. This position leads Global Finance Technology (GFT) and its ~250 employees (plus ~300 contractors) with an annual technology budget of $130M. GFT is accountable for building, implementing, supporting, and evolving the technology platforms associated with the central and business unit specific financial ecosystems. Key capability areas include general ledger, accounting, treasury, tax, reinsurance, data, and enterprise risk and actuarial. The Sr Director works closely with Liberty’s CFO community and their teams. The role requires a holistic leadership approach and a breadth and depth of perspective, utilizing enterprise and industry / market trends to enable a high performing technology function and data first culture.

 

About the Job:

 

  • Reporting to the CIO of Corporate Functions Technology, lead a high performing organization of engineers, architects and agile delivery experts in service of Liberty’s Finance strategic priorities, including multiple multi-year initiatives.
  • Bring thought leadership and strategy, especially around digital and data transformation, balancing large 3rd party software partnerships with custom solutions.
  • Contribute to enterprise and shared services strategies as a member of the LIFTED technology function and a member of Liberty Mutual Technology’s Extended Leadership Team.
  • Champion Liberty Mutual Technology’s 5 strategic priorities and align department vision and direction to motivate and manage staff to achieve results.
  • Build a flexible and adaptable workforce strategy leveraging full-time and professional services, focused on skills for the future.
  • Partner with the Finance Business Agility teams effectively with co-accountability for business outcomes.
  • Drive and implements change, continuous improvement and staff development including the next line of technology leaders.

Qualifications

  • Seasoned technology leader with a proven ability working across multiple stakeholders and partners in a high-pressure environment by creating a culture where high-performing teams excel in delivering business value.
  • Strategic thinker with deep finance and insurance business acumen and understanding of how technology can be leveraged to support business strategy.
  • Proven experience with 3rd party platform implementations (SAP experience a plus) and cloud-native homegrown solutions (full stack AWS, data transformation, data warehousing, and business intelligence / reporting).
  • Proven experience crafting and delivering on an enterprise data strategy.
  • Skilled in multi-year budgeting (labor, compute, software) and workforce strategy planning, mixing full-time employees with 3rd party partners to deliver and support, cost effectively.
  • Ability to attract, coach, mentor, and build a strong functional and technical team
  • Demonstrated experience managing strategic vendor relationships (software, consulting, and outsourcing).
  • Ability to partner closely and establish strong trusted working relationships to make impacts beyond technology, e.g. contributing to the larger finance transformation at Liberty.
  • Change leader who is people focused and translates vision into actionable deliverables.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills - can do deep dives while staying focused.
  • Effective communicator who is highly articulate and able to convey important messages both verbally and in writing to all organizational levels.
