The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. The Position

 

The Data Product owner is a Data Strat who would lead and manage the development and deployment of Private Markets focused foundational data solutions within Liberty Mutual Investments. You will drive outcome-oriented development of foundational data products to meet the evolving needs of the organization in the private markets space through continual innovation, evaluation, and implementation. The role involves turning ideas or problems into actionable designs and achieving desired outcomes. You will effectively prioritize features within the product roadmap and unlock continuous feedback loops by communicating and collaborating with stakeholders. The role requires working independently within the highest authority limits on assignments and possessing extensive technical knowledge and skills relevant to data and asset management. #LMI

 

Responsibilities:

 

As a member of Liberty Mutual Investments Data and Analytics Practice, you are responsible for designing and overseeing the development of private markets focused foundational data solutions and ensuring data is available at the right time, place, and quality. To accomplish this, you will partner with business, technical, operations, and data functions to make macro and asset-level data available on the data platform. You will employ a multi-faceted approach to deliver foundational data capabilities and have the following responsibilities:

  • Leverage knowledge of private markets, asset management, investment products, data, and technology to create, present, and implement robust and scalable designs aligned with the strategic roadmap.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across investments, operations, products, data, and technology to drive the execution of private credit and alternatives data products.
  • Own and manage relationships with implementation partners and third-party vendor platforms.
  • Develop KPIs to evaluate potential implementation partners and third-party vendors, in alignment with the Private Credit vision and data strategy.
  • Define the vision for the private markets data, maintain the product backlog, manage user stories from requirement to acceptance, and participate in agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure the successful delivery of outcomes.
  • Create strategic and tactical roadmaps for a portfolio of private markets data solutions, including private credit and alternatives data products, to improve data-oriented decision-making capabilities.
  • Problem-solve data issues by creating current-state and future-state scenarios, identifying gaps, determining paths to resolve issues, prototyping solutions, guiding the data engineering squad to deliver, and driving user acceptance.
  • Grasp new technologies needed to advance initiatives and demonstrate a deep understanding of the business use case.
  • Recommend and implement new or enhanced solutions to better meet stakeholder or customer needs by leading the development of project backlogs and plans, including milestones and dates, and identifying parties and processes impacted by the data solution.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in asset management and private markets with a focus on data management.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence key decision-makers and understand their points of view.
  • Strong working knowledge of private markets asset allocation, portfolio management, and investing.
  • A strategic mindset and leadership abilities, coupled with a deep interest in investment management and a creative, action-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in private markets with a focus on direct lending and fund structure strategies.
  • Experience with private markets focused vendor platforms in asset management domain.
  • Proven track record of delivering innovative technology solutions to business partners.
  • Solid product management skills utilizing agile methodologies.
  • Experience working within investment teams and understanding how value is created from financial time series data and analytics within the applicable asset classes.
  • Dynamic individual with strategic, hands-on expertise to collaborate directly with businesses.
  • Experience in building data models and/or working with technology teams to create common data models that enable ease in analytics. Must be able to work effectively, leading and providing direction to both your offshore team and teams of data engineers in technology.
  • Understand scalable data concepts, including data design and modeling, as well as working knowledge of Python, SQL, Business Intelligence tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Analytics, Statistics, or a related field; a Master’s degree and/or CFA certification is a plus.
