The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

As the Personal Lines Auto Underwriting Effectiveness Leader, you will oversee and manage the effectiveness of underwriting solutions that will enable profitable growth for the Personal Lines Auto organization. Using competitive research, the team drives the development and deployment of underwriting solutions that enables Liberty to employ Best-in-Class underwriting capabilities.

This job requires close collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization, drives initiatives forward as well as leverages an analytical/data-driven approach. This position reports to the Chief Product Officer in the US Retail Markets Auto Product organization. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a team that focuses on enhancing Underwriting sophistication through model based approaches (Machine learning models, GLMs, etc.), building underwriting levers, building underwriting tools and conducting underwriting analytics and monitoring.
  • Partners closely with State Management, US Data Science and Risk Analytics to execute underwriting strategies
  • Oversees the successful enforcement of underwriting appetite by working with IT to roll out systematic controls across all channels
  • Partners with Personal Lines Underwriting to ensure decision making through ownership of underwriting rules and standards is maintained.
  • Oversees the strategy, design and streamlining of the underwriting manual processes like forms/ referral strategy while leveraging technology where it makes sense  
  • Oversees the renewal and endorsement underwriting strategy and build levers to improve underwriting sophistication and flexibility.
  • Executes underwriting effectiveness programs and strategies through change management and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Responsible for data accuracy, program design, execution and partnering with our Legal and Finance teams to identify and address fraud.

  • Advanced analytical and critical problem solving skills
  • Ability to exercise influence while working cross functionally and building relationships.
  • Skills and competencies include project management, process mapping, strategic mindset, organizational agility, creative thinking, achievement-oriented, collaborative, highly adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and ability to plan, organize and get work done through others.
  • Experience and comfort working with model based solutions
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to successfully present business cases to executive leadership.
  • 10+ years of experience in personal insurance.
