Job Description: Senior Android Engineer

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our development team. As a Senior Android Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of our Android applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet our users' needs.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop advanced Android applications, ensuring their functionality, performance, and usability.

2. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

3. Lead the technical design and architecture of Android applications, ensuring they follow best practices and industry standards.

4. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to coding standards.

5. Identify and resolve technical issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks in a timely manner.

6. Continuously optimize and improve existing Android applications for enhanced user experience and performance.

7. Stay up-to-date with the latest Android development trends, tools, and technologies, and proactively share knowledge with the team.

8. Mentor and provide guidance to junior Android engineers, fostering their technical growth and professional development.

9. Collaborate with QA engineers to ensure proper testing and quality assurance of Android applications.

10. Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

 

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

2. Professional Android development experience, including experience with Kotlin and Java.

3. Strong knowledge of Android SDK, Android Studio, and related tools.

4. Proven track record of developing and shipping high-quality, performance-driven Android

applications.

5. Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and software development best practices.

6. Experience with GraphQl APIs, JSON, and XML.

7. Familiarity with mobile testing frameworks, continuous integration, and version control systems.

8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and resolve complex technical issues.

9. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

10. Proactive mindset, with a desire to learn and stay updated on the latest Android development trends and technologies.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of software engineering experience
  • A background in business operations and strategies, with a focus on business IT
  • A history of translating client requirements into technical designs
  • Agile engineering capabilities and a design-thinking mindset
  • Collaboration, adaptability, flexibility and the ability to manage time and prioritize work with a globally distributed development team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills - and a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers
  • A thorough grasp of IT concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards, shared software concepts and layered solutions and designs
  • Proficiency in software engineering languages and tools, including Java and RESTful services, spanning horizontal and vertical packages
  • An understanding of how modifications affect different parts of a system and an ability to explain your decision-making process to non-engineers
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
