The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

Under moderate supervision, performs building-related HVAC, electrical or other technical maintenance, service, and repairs. Responsible for a wide variety of tasks which transcend several trade boundaries. Skilled in a wide variety of hand and power tools to perform work assignments and ensure that quality work and cleanup is completed, adhering to all safety procedures. Proactively identifies and reports building deficiencies back to Chief Building Systems Technician or Facility Manager.


Responsibilities

  • Assists licensed HVAC mechanics and licensed electricians in completing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, general repairs, wiring and specific project-related work.
  • Conducts routine servicing of installed air conditioning systems and components including compressors, condensers, valves, coils, cooling towers, heat pumps, motors, belts, bearings, fans, filters, piping, wiring, control systems, thermostats, ducts, ventilation systems and other appurtenances.
  • Performs routine and emergency HVAC or electrical repairs. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning HVAC, electrical systems and components.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and equipment manuals related systems and component parts.
  • Performs replacement of major and minor parts, components, or entire systems. Recommends improvements systems.
  • Actively pursues energy conservation opportunities. Performs additional duties as requested, i.e. requisitions supplies, maintains service records, run errands, assists with meeting setups, moves office furniture and equipment, performs grounds keeping, and other interior/ exterior general maintenance work, etc.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, blueprints, systems, or diagrams to repair and maintain equipment
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and materials
  • A broad working knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used for HVAC/Electrical technical service and maintenance work is preferred
  • High school education or equivalent training, plus 1-3 years of relevant construction, service industry, or general facility maintenance experience
  • Must have completed or be actively engaged in an accredited HVAC or electrical training program that will lead to certification/designation of competency or associate degree in the HVAC or electrical fields
