The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

As a Product Director, Workers’ Compensation, you will be directly responsible for development and direction of the risk control business strategy for workers’ compensation related verticals with expertise across multiple coverage applications and industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and technology. Primary duties include strategic planning, advancement of consulting capabilities, talent development, and relationship management. You will also be accountable to enhance Liberty Mutual Risk Control Service’s (RCSs) technical thought leadership position and brand recognition in the market. 

 

This is a WFH (Work From Home) role and the hire can reside anywhere in the United States.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Creates and directs the risk control business strategy transformation for the workers’ compensation segment within verticals, including all related industries impacting profitability and growth. Additional line of business, industry, or exposure areas based on expertise will also be aligned for strategy development and execution. 
  • Impacts profitability and growth through in-depth internal and external research along with evaluation and analysis to made recommendations to the business on approach and actions. Aligns with Technical Directors to understand external client & and internal underwriting needs and ensure RCS field execution of discipline strategy. 
  • Translates emerging science, technology, and industry best practices for field application to advance the discipline impacting current and future business objectives, external client needs, and underwriting insights. 
  • Aligns to and manages internal client and partner relationships including Product Management, Industry Practices & Innovation, and traditional and specialty underwriting segments. Ensures alignment, cooperation, and effective communication across departments to meet objectives. 
  • Develops talent strategy for the workers’ compensation segment to develop skills and transfer knowledge in partnership with field based Technical Director’s and specialists.
  • Generates and manages external brand awareness for aligned disciplines in conjunction with marketing and public relations. Represents depth of expertise and enhances credibility through representation on industry, standards, or trade associations 
  • Assumes project and change management responsibilities for risk control initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and managerial skills in order to manage and develop a product line from beginning through implementation and ensures on-going financial objectives
  • Exceptional communication skills in order to market products/services to customers, industry associations, and at various forums
  • Proven team player skills and the ability to deal with varying organizational levels
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of risk services management practices, operations and service delivery structures
  • Proven competency in financial planning and budget management
  • Advanced degree in related field or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively more responsible related work experience which includes at least 5 years of management/supervisory experience
  • Additional work experience maybe substituted for advanced degree
  • Licensing and special certification maybe required
