Manages product development, product maintenance, pricing and profitability for Property Lines. Sets Property strategy for sub-segment CUOs to implement in their business unit portfolio strategy and plan. Accountability for North America P&L for Property. Leads North America product board responsible for market assessment & sensing, performance analysis & monitoring, pricing & rate management, portfolio management, authority setting & governance, talent & technology, GRS NA business-wide best practices adoption for product line. Responsible for all Property specific capability enhancement decisions. Makes a sizeable impact on risk quality, risk control, large account pricing, research, and centralized processing operations.  


Strategy & Planning: 

  • Sets product strategy and annual financial plan for the Property products under leader purview, based on optimal deployment of capital 
  • Works with North America Office of Underwriting to align on KPIs, metrics, and thresholds for product portfolio monitoring 
  • Advises on ceded reinsurance strategy for the product(s) including central vs. local 


  • Establishes authority limits and referral criteria for the relevant product areas, cascading down within the overall GRS CUO’s framework 
  • Monitors execution of product strategy and portfolio performance against plan 
  • Monitors developments in the macro and regional risk environments that could impact Property portfolio performance 
  • Drives knowledge sharing for relevant global and regional trends and information on evolving nature of risk, performance results, claim trends, etc. that will then be used to inform local underwriting strategy decisions 

Talent Management: 

  • Provides strong leadership to continually upgrade SBU underwriting talent through training, development, and recruitment 
  • Leads a small organization, sets competency framework linked to authorities

 UW Capability Development: 

  • Determines SBU underwriting investment needs to continue monitoring and/or executing effectively, including data capture or strategy


  • Underwriting P&L experience 
  • Strong Property expertise and underwriting experience. Deep understanding of how the pieces of the organization fit together to create value and deliver results. Maintain a solid grasp on the ever-changing context within which the business competes
  • Internationally experience preferred but not required
  • Objective and results-oriented 
  • Leader with strategic mindset and demonstrated relationship building ability. Ability to form effective and trusting relationships with superiors, peers, and direct reports, studying and meeting the needs of key stakeholders
  • Ability to articulate views, engage others` ideas, analyze data for insights, weigh alternatives, own the final call, and communicate decisions clearly
  • Attributes include: adaptability/openness to new experiences, achievement orientation, initiative, organizational awareness, self-awareness, humility, and empathy
  • Knowledge, skills and other capabilities normally acquired through a bachelor`s degree or equivalent and 12+ years of related experience
